To ask if this is infected? (Picture)

I did this with a razor about a week and a half ago and its still throbbing and is looking a bit off...

It still stings to put in water and hasn't her scabbed over.

It looks pretty angry still for nearly a two week old shaving cut?

That looks infected to me, I’m afraid.

namechangedforthis1980 · 06/09/2019 16:12

I think it looks a little infected, could you ask a pharmacist?

StupidRazor · 06/09/2019 16:23

Thank you! I'll have to try and get to the pharmacy this weekend Sad

Shaving cuts are always pretty painful but this one's been a bastard!

Is it hot to the touch? And does it smell funky?

I'd get some savlon/germalene on there & a breathable plaster

CantRememberHoliday · 06/09/2019 16:26

Redness, pain, swelling, feeling warm to the touch are signs of infection. I’d say it looks infected

Purplerain16 · 06/09/2019 16:26

BTW, I had to deal with my DPs infected cuts (one on each hand) for the past 6 months* & this is what the Dr's advice was.

*different cuts, that all happened to get infected, not one infection for 6 months 😂

BarbariansMum · 06/09/2019 16:32

Um yes of course it's infected, look at it. If you cant get to a pharmacist could you drain it and soak it in salty water for half an hour?

StupidRazor · 06/09/2019 16:53

Gah the thought of draining it Envy

I'm not good with stuff like this. I will give it a go though! It's very painful putting it in water still.

Yes, soften, drain and then antiseptic. It will sting like a bitch for the first few minutes, but much less than it will if it goes septic!

user1473878824 · 06/09/2019 18:43

Someone in Sporner’s Corner will be all over draining it for you!

Hotseat · 06/09/2019 19:02

You could try a positive. My son had a cyst on his back and this worked. Soak some white bread in a little hot milk to make a paste. Spread liberally ever infected area, cover with gauze or clean cotton. Leave for at least 4 hours. Should work I also tried on a dog bite my pup gave me.

user1473878824 · 06/09/2019 19:54

Second the bread poultice. You might have to do it a few times, my mum has done this before and when it cooled she did it again so it was always warm to draw it out better. It’s terrifying old wives tale magic.

FenellaVelour · 06/09/2019 20:58

Yes it looks infected. Please get it treated - I’ve just ended up signed off work for a week and on the verge of being admitted for IV antibiotics because of an infected wound on my thumb 😬

Muchtoomuchtodo · 06/09/2019 21:03

Pop it and slap some germolene on it.
