Does anyone else have bad thoughts constantly?

Do you think about bad things happening to your family etc? I keep doing it. Especially when I'm in bed at night.

I also think about murders, particularly child ones and then I feel so sad about it. I can't seem to stop.

I have a lovely life. Really lovely. I should he thinking about happy things!

Am I alone?

You suffer from intrusive thoughts. It's not terribly unusual, but distressing. CBT is usually recommended as a way of framing and retraining thought processes-- maybe someone else on here will be able to say if they found it at all effective for intrusive thoughts.

I have intrusive thoughts too, it can be a symptom of OCD, but like a PP said, CBT really helps.

Intrusive thoughts suggest you have an anxiety disorder of some kind, possibly OCD. How do these thoughts make you feel? Do you have any particular thing you do to try and feel better when they arise?

Absolutely everyone gets these thoughts, the difference is that for some people they pass easily and for some they are distressing.

CBT helped me with them, as does mindfulness meditation as it allows you to observe thoughts for what they are - just thoughts, that don't matter and can't hurt you. Also if you are struggling to sleep I found the 'This Works' sleep spray a godsend. Better sleep then in turn helped reduce my anxious thoughts.

Yes. Not about family, but other stuff. To the extent that it was ruining my life. Two things have helped enormously- exercise, preferably outside, and counselling. I wish you all the best. There is a way out

I feel the same. Not sure if its post baby blues. I worry about everything including family plus everything going wrong in the world
