To go back to Clarks

Bought DD some school shoes from Clarks 3 weeks ago. She's worn them 2 days this week and they've rubbed blisters on her heels and she's complaining they hurt her toes. She's now wearing her old shoes as they still had a bit of life in them.
AIBU to go back to the shop and ask them to remeasure her? Would they do anything because they've been worn?

We had similar except DS had been wearing them for 6wks, Clark’s changed them no problem.

The shop we buy our children’s shoes from have this machine which stretches the leather a bit. So it’s like they’ve been worn in slightly. Some shoe places have one. Might be worth asking.

Good luck but doubt they will, I bought two pairs of work shoes, wore 1st pa it and they ripped my heels to ribbons, got a refund on pair two as not worn (same shoes but different colour) but the pair that hurt no chance though I get it, they can't sell them for hygiene reasons and is worn them one day. Still £85 down the drain Angry have worn them twice more, for better but still rub, break sjin. I can't face wearing them again. Bought expendable thinking they would last me better 😤

They remeasured her and got a different size, 1/2 size bigger and a different width, so they exchanged them no problem. Great customer service 😀

I went back to Clark’s and complained about my son’s shoes as they were uncomfortable. . They remeasured him as a completely different size. I wasn’t impressed as I go to Clarke’s expecting to pay more to ensure correct fitting. They didn’t argue though. Just changed them. Definitely go back.

It's no wonder they are so expensive when they have to replace so many worn shoes due to inaccurate measuring.

Great result. X

Definitely go back, my sons school shoes managed two days before causing blisters. Clarks gave me a full refund and we have gone back to our usual startrites.

JCKit · 08/09/2019 09:22

I've had the same with on of my children and they took them back.

jackparlabane · 08/09/2019 15:48

Just went to Clarks as dd suddenly needed new school shoes, and they had only one style of black shoe in her size, which was a rubbish one that hardly covered the toes. And she said it rubbed, and it looked too wide. So we walked out to TKMaxx across the road. Lots of girly black boots for under 15 quid. Sorted.

I've taken ill-fitted shoes back to Clarks a few times before and they've always been really good about replacing them.

Presumably they were adult shoes. This thread is about kids' shoes where the Clarks' staff make a song and dance about measuring the feet properly, so it's their hard luck if they sell the wrong size shoes. Also, children don't always know what feels right, hence another reason why the Clarks staff feel and prod around the shoe to check the fit etc.

Presumably, as an adult, you didn't get them to measure your feet, nor prod the toe etc to check you've got the right size, hence not their fault if you chose the wrong size.

You're comparing apples with pears.

FredaFox · 09/09/2019 08:06

Wow kazzy I didn’t choose the wrong size but ok Hmm
Customer Service is customer service wether it’s an apple or pear

I work for Clarks and with adults it's up to you if the shoes fit or not. All shoes fit slightly differently due to width, style, cut etc.. not every shoe in the same size will fit exactly the same, I guessing you didn't ask the assistant to check they fitted you. With children's though we do check and will always swap/refund if missfitted or the style doesn't work for that child, Clarks sell a massive amount of shoes during the back to school period so some will inevitably be uncomfortable but the shop should sort it out for you. On the subject of styles this year we have done many more 'practical' shoes for girls and guess what? No one bought them! The girls all wanted the black patent slip on which while we do our best they don't fit everyone. Sorry for the rant!
