When you miss the post man and they leave a note to go and collect a parcel from the main post depot.

Didn't try to leave it with a neighbour or attempt redelivery.

The depot is so annoying to get to lol!

I love it when I get a Royal Mail missed delivery note, but then the depot is quite convenient for me, and I know I can pick it up next day and not have it stuck on a van for 3 days. It's all the others I dread!

I hate it when they leave it with the neighbours I'd rather go to the depot (7mins drive) to collect. I don't want to burden my neighbours with my post and I'd have to go to the neighbours to disturb them again and collect the parcel.

Lately they've been leaving small parcels in my recycling bin, which I don't mind either.

I'm actually quite friendly with my neighbour so we are more than happy to take each other's parcels.

The worst is my husband was in and he didn't even hear the door go! So who knows if they even knocked.

I'm very lucky i know my post man very well. I work with his wife and husband work works closely with a depot meaning he's over there a couple times a day. So I never get any problems with getting mail even if we miss it. Smile

if you put the tracking number in royal mail tracking you can get a free re-delivery & you get to choose the date or if you're not going to be in you can select for them to send it to your nearest post office for you to collect at your convenience..no need to go to the depot actually.

Maybe ask your neighbour if you can leave a note suggesting the postman leave it with them if noone's in and vice versa. Personally, I prefer the parcel gets returned to the depot and I can collect from there rather than go to one of my neighbours as they have proven to be quite lightfingered in the past. My other neighbour is retired and I know she doesn't really like taking in parcels as she gets inundated, which is very understandable!

If a neighbour is happy to take in parcels for you, I think the Royal Mail has a scheme where you can register this. Your postie should then do this for you.
