To think leave us alone you cheeky fucker!

I was at a pub grub place today with a very good play area (both outdoors as indoors).

With my DS of 22 months. He doesn't really 'like' other children but I always encourage it, as does his nursery etc.

We were playing outside and a small child, around 3 I would say but could well be younger/older, almost feel from the top of the slide! I saw this and quickly grabbed him. Someone who was sitting on a garden bench with his mum said "He almost fell!" And she walked over, very calmly, saying "Ahh I'll have to get you to watch him more often! Thank you Grin".

Next thing I know she turns and is back on the bench. I tell DS we're going in now to play inside and the child follows us... Whilst in the inside play area, the child makes numerous efforts to play with DS but DS consistently says "No" and moves away. Eventually I step in and say something along the lines of maybe we should go and find your mummy. And we do, she's nowhere to be seen. Not on the garden bench outside. I had a good look inside and I couldn't see her.

I go back in to the play area inside and resume letting them play there, thinking the mum would probably come looking for him there since she must've heard me say we were going inside to play. This was for all of 5 minutes.

Then the child repeatedly bothered my DS with things like "Look at this!" And "Can I see that?!" DS then lost it a bit and lashed out. He scratched his face and the child had a small but slightly bloody cut under the eye. He was crying, a lot.

I took his hand (and DS's), and went to find the mother. I spotted her at the bar with the person she was sitting with earlier! They were having a glass of wine Shock

I explained the situation, saying I was really sorry, but my DS had scratched him. She screamed come here to her son and then proceeded to shout at me. Calling me a, I kid you not, lazy bitch and that I should watch my son more closely.

I said "Really?! Where were you then". And walked away. I left the bloody place. I could hear them muttering between themselves as I left.

AIBU to think this is beyond cheeky?! I can't believe people are actually like this.

Unbelievable! I would have said a lot more than that to her. Obviously it's unfortunate that your son lashed out, but you sound like an attentive mum who is aware there's an issue to work on. But truly, in circumstances like that I have to truly hold myself back from going all full on, white-trash scene mode. That being said I can't remember a time that I've actually gone off on someone because I don't want to have my children see that type of behavior, but my blood boils for you.

marvellousnightforamooncup · 05/09/2019 16:23

Well done for walking away. Not sure I wouldn't have lost it, either that or be shocked and mute.

sheshootssheimplores · 05/09/2019 16:28

Bloody hell!!!

mbosnz · 05/09/2019 16:34

What a revolting piece of work she was.

Poppyhopscotch · 05/09/2019 16:41

Yes you were absolutely in the right. I hate parents that go to places like this and then just ignore their kids.

kryztinababy · 05/09/2019 16:46

That's disgusting behaviour from the mum. Poor neglected boy must have been clinging to you for a reason op. But seriously , you'll probably never see them again so don't worry about it.

ElizaDee · 05/09/2019 16:52

I'd have been tempted to take him to the local police station when she fucked off, give her the fright of her life and teach her to look after her own bloody kid.

Gruntvsgunt · 05/09/2019 16:54

Jeez she and your little one both sound like they need some serious socialising

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 05/09/2019 16:55

So she’s sitting get pissed at the bar and you were minding her son, and She has the audacity to say “Where were you”. Angry
She’ll have a heart attack before she’s 50. All that ranting and raving every time her kid gets hit. Yes okay it’s not nice. However it’s also not worth getting wound up over it either. It happens a million times a day with kids

kalinkafoxtrot45 · 05/09/2019 16:57

What a cheeky neglectful bitch! I’d have been tempted to mention to the pub owner that she wasn’t taking care of her kid and would they have a word in case of accidents. She’d probably have blown up at them and got kicked out, which would be a definite win.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 05/09/2019 16:57

Although I do have to be honest. Until I got to the part where the mum was kicking off. I was thinking you sound like a right snob. Who thinks you’re doing the world a favour by letting us breath the same air as you.

My little one is constantly socialising.

OP you have the patience of a saint, you should've told her that her kid fell again and had been "crying for his mummy but she wasn't there"

She's a right nasty piece of work!

SeigneurLapindeGrantham · 05/09/2019 18:11

Awwlookatmybabyspider are you reading the same thread as me? What an unbelievably ridiculous thing to say.

OP I think you were incredibly restrained in the circumstances, it seems these entitled, rude knobbers are everywhere these days.

FeeFee832 · 05/09/2019 20:22

Wow, what a horrendous person. She had no right OP.

A little worrying that your son lashed out like that. Have you spoken to your GP about his behaviour eg. No wanting to socialise and then lashing out? Sounds like he may have got very anxious and potentially an early sign of autism? Thanks
