She must be jealous of you

I see this comment a lot in relation to lots of posts about very different circumstances. Usually when someone does not like the OP, or has said criticised the OPs behaviour of the behaviour of their children. AIBU to think that jealousy is not as common a motive as some people seem to think?

Yes I have secret and shameful jealousy issues too ! Or plain old resentment

My 58 year old brother has been jealous of me since the day I was born and still is.
He is rude when he sees me, dismissive of my opions and talks over me when I speak.
Luckily we live in different countries so I don't have to see much of him.

Envy, envy that causes you to behave badly, put people down, dislike them, is pretty much the sin that must not be named though, it is the one thing people often just will seldom admit, even when it's obvious. Far easier to try to say I just don't like them, or don't like this about them, than to admit to envy causing you to behave badly.

It's 'ENVY' we're talking about here, rather than 'JEALOUSY', isn't it?
