To ask for your bar shampoo and conditioner recommendations

Doing my bit to cut down on single use plastics. Looking at making the leap into bars of shampoo and conditioner. My issue is I have very fine hair, of which the roots get greasy very easily!

Can anyone hit me with some recommendations please!

Not found one I like. I get refils of faith in nature shampoo and conditioner at a local shop but you can also buy in bulk of amazon so less plastic to recycle.

Also looking to switch, does anyone use the bars on very long hair?
I get through a lot of shampoo and conditioner so not sure if the bars would be effective.

I like the Friendly Soap shampoo. Also, they do a shaving bar that smells lovely & is much more eco-friendly than most other options.

I have very very long hair but even with normal shampoo just use it on my scalp then when you rinse off it cleans your hair? Only condition from shoulders down.

Only wash my hair every 5/6 days though.

My hair is in great condition just scalp hated the bars.

I use the lamazuna chocolate shampoo bar. Lathers up well and actually been able to wash my hair every 3 days rather than every 2 with normal shampoo. Not the cheapest, but really like it. Have bought the glass holder too, it has holes in the lid so I just turn it upside down to drain and dry out in the shower. Not tried a conditioner bar yet,

I can't use Lush bars as they have SLS in them, my scalp hates that.

I tried SLS and non SLS Sad

@randomusernamehere I've got very long hair and use bar soap - it's excellent- lovely lather. I put mine on soap dishes, pat them dry and they last for ages. I get them from Soaps for Little Suds (lovely small business) search for it on Facebook - does anyone know how to do a clicky link? - they will post it out if you want. I started using them for party bag presents for DDs parties (soaps with mini figures or fish in), tried the bar shampoo a while ago with loads of reservations, expecting not to be impressed but it was amazing- haven't look back since. Much easier when travelling too 😀

Funky Soap. Lovely shampoo bars. SLS free.

I use Cole & Co a Welsh company. I don't need a conditioner and my hair is fine, straight and long. I use dissolved bicarb and water and then to get a good lather I rub the bar onto an exfoliating glove and rub into my hair. I finish with a few squirts of diluted apple cider vinegar and a blast of cold water at the end.

My hair is like yours. The lush argon oil shampoo is great but yet to find a conditioner bar. The whole family uses shampoo bars now, but I still have bottled conditioner. We've gone from 5 bottles to 1 so steps in the right direction!

RandomUsernameHere · 23/09/2019 09:17

Thank you @Igmum will look them up

AwdBovril · 25/09/2019 06:47

I use these under the soap - can cut to size to fit a soap dish, or use on their own on the sink. Been using the current one for about a year, they stop the soap getting soggy at the bottom. Just needs a rinse out every few weeks to keep it clean. I bought a pack of 10 so I probably won't need to buy any more for a couple of decades...

I tried a bar from ' Bounty Hunter' no need to get used to it...it worked fine from day 1. My son also liked it. I thought it was more expensive than my usual shampoo though.

Does anyone know of shower gel bar? I find soap is scummy so don't like it - but am keen to reduce the amount of plastic in the shower. What options are there?
