To ask if anyone uses SAD lights

I’m pretty sure I suffer with SAD (quite badly) and am trying to preempt it this year. Have been researching SAD lamps but don’t really trust the reviews at the top of google. Have you used one, do they work? Any good brands etc. Or are they are rip off?

I swear hygge is only used by people who want to sell hot chocolate and blankets

I’m not that fussed, but for the VAT exemption do you need something from your doctor or is it self declared thing.

I have a Lumie dawn simulator alarm clock. It makes it much easier to get up on dark mornings. I’ve never used it through the day though.

Yes they do work, we have a lumie it has a "sunset" and a "sunrise" mode, we put it on 30 minutes before bed and then set the alarm for the morning on it and it comes on and stays on for 30 minutes.
It definitely helps both with falling asleep and getting up and also mood.

My Lumie has pretty much stopped me being suicidal every winter. I use it in the morning - when it is needed - to dry my hair and put my face on in the mirror, and again in the evening.

I have the Arabica. It's very big, so be aware!

Get it from Lumie, declare it as a medical device and get out VAT free.

I have a SAD lamp but honestly I don't know if it works. It's ridiculously bright and very distracting and you need to sit it outside your peripheral vision or it blinds you.

What has helped is changing the lights in my living room to LEDs. The white light is so much better on the psyche than those hideous yellow bulb lamps that houses normally have.

I don't know how I would cope in winter without my Lumies (have a home one and a work/travel one). If I have a day without using one I can sleep for 14-16 hours.

We got one that sits on my DH desk , it came from Aldi maybe 3/4 years ago . Their stuff tends to repeat so I’d look on website . It’s fab
