To ask how Brexit will affect your job?

I work in financial services (investments) and I am wondering how Brexit will affect our company.. I don't know if I have anything to be worried about. I have a basic knowledge of what's going on but not how will it impact my day to day life.

How do you think Brexit will affect your job?

Miljah Local council, environmental services. As long as the public continue to complain about anything/everything, I will have a job!

Possibly, possibly not (I genuinely hope everything stays good for you). But.... be aware there will be significantly less tax coming into the exchequer

We send approx 0.4% of GDP to the EU. If we crash out, GDP is expected to drop at a minimum by 8% over the next 5 years (note that this is considered a "conservative" estimate, as the BoE cannot model chaos - their words). In effect, we lose more money than we save by dropping out of the EU. As such, there will be LESS money for the NHS, and as that is a priority, even less money for the rest of the public sector.

As I said at the top - I truly hope you will be safe, and have a good solid ongoing job. But, be aware there remain many risks even if you are public sector.

Loch but what if our post-Brexit 'freedoms' allow the government to relax environmental laws? On the basis they can't afford the luxury of environmental protection when they're struggling to get vital medicines through? What when the tax-take plummets? I could see your job as quite vulnerable, actually!

I genuinely hope not, obviously, both on a personal and national level. We will very much need taxpayers and consumers.

But I can foresee a scenario where Brexit very much will affect a public sector worker in your position.

@Miljah The commercial part of EH is going to be affected as they deal with import/export of goods, food hygiene etc. It’s going to massively affect food safety regulations for produce coming into the U.K.

However I work for the domestic side and primarily deal with statutory nuisances, abandoned vehicles, fly tipping etc which won’t change much/at all.
