Urgent advice - Baby fell onto tiled floor

I don’t know if I’m supposed to ring 111 or my GP or anyone, I’ve just been calming my child down and I’m so scared she’s hurt herself but trying to think straight and thought maybe someone could just direct me here

My 1.5 year old fell onto a tiled floor from a kitchen countertop (I had my back turned for literally a few seconds in which she managed to climb a sofa and onto the kitchen top and slipped, it wasn’t too high but at least 3 feet I think) it is not our house so it’s not exactly baby safe

She fell on one arm and one side of her face, instantly cried, I picked her up and calmed her down and she’s stopped crying. I checked for bumps, bruises, everything but she looks okay but I don’t know what to do now

Should I go get her checked immediately in case she broke her arm or something (praying this is not the case but I’m just so scared and In shock right now I can’t forget the image of her just lying on the floor in front of me)

I feel like a terrible mother for not catching her in time and my heart is stuck in my throat. Please advise me on my next steps what should I do????

111 will tell you to take your DC to A&E
Fuck only knows what a pharmacist will tell you to do Hmm, probably say why have you brought her to a chemist
Your GP will tell you to take to A&E

ah this place is insane sometimes

OP glad she's sorted

I wouldn't even have called 111 for a child that was using all it's limbs as normal, not in pain, not KO'd and with no signs of injury - I am not getting the hysteria here at all - 999 ffs or A+E (for a 3 hour wait with a bored, active totally healthy toddler!)

The real issue with a lot of trips and falls is has their head taken a knock?. Delayed concussion is the main issue and that can take a little time to show up.

I dont think anyone should be criticised for calling Mumsnet Medical advice servies after all a lot of posters will have expecnced previous sitiuations and some on heer are GP's, nurses and the odd paramedic though remote net diagonistics is propblematical at the best of times and what would we have done in pre-net mobile phone days?

Asked grannie?, the wise woman down the way? but they are in short supply these days and sometimes its a real bugger knowing what to do sometimes!

111 well it is there, but from my experences its long winded at the best of times so I make my own judgent on what to do we have a very good A&E not that far away and they Never will criticise you for bringing a sick or ill child there!

Well so says a friend who does work there!

@CheeseChipsMayo

Christ &ur on bloody mumsnet-WTAF?? call 999 ASAP

What the hell??? It's people like you that are causing such a strain on the NHS.

Jesus Christ 🙄

OP, you could call 111 or take her to nearest out of hours etc to be checked over to put your mind at rest. If she seems ok, not crying or dazed and isn't vomiting I'm sure she's fine but better to be safe than sorry.

No need to ring for a bloody ambulance though 🙄

OP posted this at 9.00am. It's all sorted now.

Ho to a and e. A similar thing happened to my son at that age, we took him to a and e, they kept him in overnight because of concussion, which he did have. Couple of hours after he was throwing up and unnaturally drowsy.
Dont hesitate, just go, it's not for you to guess about broken arm etc....

Why do people not RTFT? Hmm
