It's official, I'm a weirdo! Smile

People vs Parliament election 😮

BelleHathor · 03/09/2019 22:17

Corbyn can't vote for an election will be wiped out. Labour supporting remain now means they've lost most of their heartlands but Boris has no majority now. They're all useless all of them.

MyBlueMoonbeam · 03/09/2019 22:18

That bloody stupid speaker's voice 🙄

bellainthemiddle · 03/09/2019 22:19

I'm amazed the Speaker still has a voice.

So have the Tory rebels lost the whip?

onalongsabbatical · 03/09/2019 22:21

Only 2? Blush Grin

BelleHathor · 03/09/2019 22:23

If Boris has a backbone they will.... from a game theory point of view removing the whip will get more Brexit Party defectors to return to the Tories but he would have to remove Nicholas Soames who is Churchill's grandson 🤔

lljkk · 03/09/2019 22:28

I tried to listen/watch. Kids needd prepping for school, though.
Now listening to R4 & R5.

Stressedout10 · 03/09/2019 22:31

I still can't believe that boris called the rebels including Nicolas Soames traitors and collaborators Angry

FedUpMum40 · 03/09/2019 22:39

They are like a bunch of toddlers in there, they all need to grow up

bellainthemiddle · 03/09/2019 22:42

And I'm like a toddler watching the other toddlers fighting Grin

It’s annoying that we now have the so called “ rebel alliance”. It’s not sodding Star Wars.

BelleHathor · 03/09/2019 22:48

I just have no idea what the heck they are doing, all parties. More delays, more uncertainty no decisive action we will be back here in January 😐

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 03/09/2019 22:53

Dh has just told me that he wants to stand as a an independent Hmm

longwayoff · 03/09/2019 22:53

To the bitter end. Bozza has overlooked the fact that these people know him, unlike the slavering hordes of county Tories who fall for the labrador act. What a shower, across the board, nobody to vote for.

bellainthemiddle · 03/09/2019 22:55

@Rufusthebewilderedreindeer is he serious?

OP posts:
Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 03/09/2019 22:57

He would absolutely stand

But ive just told him he isnt allowed to if he doesnt have a manifesto...so he is a bit stuck

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 03/09/2019 22:58

You know the people who dress like fishfingers etc...

That’ll be him

chomalungma · 03/09/2019 23:00

I love BBC Parliament. It's great to hear speeches from MPs who you only ever hear being interviewed. There are great MPs on all sides of the House (although some of them have lost the whip tonight)

Also interesting watching procedure, giving way, and listening to the Speaker.

Miljah · 03/09/2019 23:03

Sorry, weighing in, late (40 ish posts).

What struck me was Saturday. I went to the Southampton 'anothereurope' anti prorogue demo. There were possibly 400 people there.

Then we walked down into Southampton. And there were hundreds, if not a thousand- people, gaily shopping, wandering around, couldn't care less, even if they were savvy enough to know.

A tiny, bitter part of me thinks that The Great British Public ('52%', plus the 'couldn't be bothered') need the spanking that's coming.

MarshaBradyo · 03/09/2019 23:03

It’s great entertainment atm if it wasn’t so serious

Bercow makes it

Miljah · 03/09/2019 23:08

I'd vote for Bercow for PM.

Which seems ridiculous, since he has issued no manifesto (as he isn't an MP! 😊)

But he'd be better than what's on offer, given what we do know about him, if only his outrage at proroguation, surely!

bellainthemiddle · 03/09/2019 23:09

He's just booted the Father of the House, the immediate former Chancellor, Churchill's grandson... I mean, who does he think it will impress? Nigel Farage?

And if he thinks Farage will get behind him, he should have watched the documentary on Schleicher getting done over by Hitler last night... (not that I'm directly comparing Farage to Hitler).

OP posts:
bellainthemiddle · 03/09/2019 23:09

Bercow has had it if there's a GE. The Conservatives will run a candidate against him in his seat.

OP posts:
longwayoff · 03/09/2019 23:15

I love John Bercow. I'm relying on him to find some obscure point of law resulting in Boris, Rees Mogg et al being slung in a dungeon a la Poldark and left there. No nannies allowed.

BelleHathor · 03/09/2019 23:18

My spidey senses are tingling. Cummings is a fan of Sun Tzu, appear weak when you are strong etc. The fact they followed through and removed the whip from the rebels. They have done the calculations, I am lurking on Guido Fawkes and mostly talk about traitors revealing themselves, remove the traitors /quislings. The optics play well to Brexit voters. Add the fact that one of the clauses of the bill allows the EU to set an extension period. 🤔
