Delivery Drivers?!

I'm genuinely asking as I'm not too sure if I'm being unreasonable.

I ordered something online and it was getting delivered today. I live on the first floor of an apartment building (with visitor parking). The delivery man buzzed the intercom and I buzz him in, and say I'm on the first floor. He then replies saying "can you come downstairs to get it".

I was in pyjamas (last day of my holiday) and cooking lunch. Is it expected to go down and get a delivery if you live in an apartment building?

Last time this happened to me, I lodged a complaint, because it made me feel really vulnerable. (I struggle to get beyond my front door at the best of times.)

The postie, and the vast majority of deliverers, bring stuff up to my second floor flat, because that is where I live.

I’m so confused with everyone saying you should go downstairs. I’ve lived in many different flats and have always had deliveries delivered to my flat door, and have never been asked to go downstairs for a delivery. YANBU.

Couldn't you have just told him to leave the parcel downstairs for you to pick up? My mother lives in a 2nd floor floor and always does this.

I've also lived in lots of flats, some in enormous buildings in London. I have never had to go and get mail or parcels, they have always been delivered to my flat door.
