... to ask if primary schools have leaver hoodies now?

Lately, I am increasingly seeing young people with leavers hoodies, who look no older than 12/13.

Have primary schools started doing them?

Or am I just really old and 18-year olds now look like tweens to me?

I teach at uni but the students in my classes "look as they always have," for lack of a better description.

Yep Scotland here and our primary have them for leavers, they are paid for by the PTA. Secondary also seem to do hoodies for all school trips too, e.g School name/logo, pupil names and trip name ie Barcelona 2019.

My sons school do them paid for by the PA. They also had a year book which was really lovely and organised by class reps.

Our primary school (in Scotland) has a 'buddy' system, where p7s train, at the end of P6, to look after the new P1s - patrol the buddy bench, help with tuck shop etc. They wear a different colour hoodie to the rest of the school, with their name on the back, to be easily identified. On the last day of P7, everyone in the year signs them, but no official leaver hoodie...yet. I suspect it's coming though! My P7 is delighted to be a buddy, and my other DC likes to look back on their signed hoodie, now they're older.

Dd is almost 18 now. Six years ago her primary did a leavers hoody.

NearlyGranny · 03/09/2019 13:11

Yes, primary schools do these now. Your eyes and age estimation skills are just fine, OP!

Where are people buying them from to be over £30? DS's was £12 plus an extra £2 if you wanted a special name on the back. His was reasonable quality too, has to be has he wore it loads

Really common in my area, have been for years. It's fairly easy to tell whether it's a Y6 hoody or a Y11 hoody, in fact I think the Y6 ones are more popular.
