All those who think that Brexit is a disaster.

Saw her on Jeremy Vine-what passion and lucidity.

Go Konnie and, Mr Corbyn, snap her up right now!

Are men ever described as insane, hysterical, deranged harpie, unhinged when they are shouting and passionately putting a point across? Ffs.

Woodlandwitch · 03/09/2019 10:49

@mustard they would be described in exactly that way if they screamed and shouted in the same way Konnie did

EskewedBeef · 03/09/2019 10:51

She isn't credible. She seems like a nice enough person, but she did look foolish and struggled to make sensible points.

Yep, have variously described BoZo in all of those terms, except harpie because it’s historically a word associated with females I believe . Will happily substitute tosser, if that makes you feel better.

MustardScreams · 03/09/2019 10:53

No I don’t think they would actually.

rattusrattus20 · 03/09/2019 10:57

she's not a great broadcaster but did study economics at cambridge, her views on this might well be halfway credible.

AccioCats · 03/09/2019 10:58

Men are more likely to be described as tossers, wankers, knobheads, dicks ... all of which are equally (or more) derogatory as ‘shrieking harpie’

So please let’s not go down the embarrassing route of pretending that Konnie Huq is only coming in for criticism because she’s a woman.

I watched it and thought she came across terribly. No intelligent points made, just ranting and spouting about chopped heads which is pretty distasteful.

Ohflippineck · 03/09/2019 10:59

I call BoZo deranged, hysterical (particularly when he waves his arms around wildly) and unhinged all the time so that’s one who does! I’m sure there are more.

This isn’t a question of gender. Konnie Huq just doesn’t present well.

MustardScreams · 03/09/2019 11:09

I’m not saying she’s only getting criticism because she’s a woman. I’m merely pointing out that there are plenty of derogatory terms being used against her here, that I don’t think would be used if a man was acting the same.

incognito1976 · 03/09/2019 11:12

Interesting that it's only women who get called 'shrill' or 'shrieking' when they express an opinion forcefully. Rather like it's only women who get called 'bossy' when they step in to manage a situation.

Kind of depressing to see this sort of thing on a forum primarily for women.

Ohflippineck · 03/09/2019 11:12

Can only repeat, in our house deranged, hysterical and unhinged are levelled at BoZo often. Fairly unisex words I’d have thought.

AccioCats · 03/09/2019 11:15

Mustardscreams- As has been pointed out, some the actual language used might be different but it would be equally derogatory. I’ve seen wanker, tosser, cock bellend applied to men who spout ridiculous statements or present themselves badly far more frequently than I’ve seen those words applied to women

MustardScreams · 03/09/2019 11:22

But being called a wanker/tosser etc is not using a mental health terms to put them down. It’s always when it’s a woman that words like hysterical/insane/deranged are used. And that pisses me off something chronic. Try and explain it away if you like, but it’s true and it happens so often.

callmeadoctor · 03/09/2019 11:25

She came across very badly Im afraid, whatever her views are. You should discuss things rationally not scream at people with other views.

Cassilis · 03/09/2019 11:31

The etymology of the word hysterical is certainly not unisex and its mainly aimed at women.

Lots of sexists here.

AccioCats · 03/09/2019 11:42

I’ve seen BJ described as insane and deranged plenty of times

Ticklemeelmo · 03/09/2019 16:18

Shrill? Hmm

I appear to have stumbled across the Daily Fail comment section on this thread

scatterolight · 03/09/2019 16:33

She came across as an absolute Grade A nutjob. OP you might want consider whether your judgement on what constitutes passion and leadership needs an adjustment.

WaggingKnife · 03/09/2019 16:37
