Has anyone holidayed with a Eurocamp Holiday?

and stayed in a tent?

We're thinking of trying a Eurocamp next Summer and the tents are way cheaper than the holiday homes and I just wondered if anyone had stayed in the tents before? I think my main worry is where to lock up personal valuables and the fact I've never stayed in a tent before, like are they safe, do you feel safe at night time etc.

I have done eurocamp but always mobiles. I have had a look in at the tents when walking past and they seem ok but not for me. My concern would be heat at night and kids needing loo in the middle of the night because if we don't get a good nights sleep everything goes down hill. Doesn't matter so much during the day because you are rarely that long in your accommodation

Ah yes I never thought of the toilet situation.

I've done eurocamp holidays many times. Mostly stay in the mobile homes but we have stayed in a safari tent before which had beds and a bathroom... So glamping really. Kids loved the safari tent

@bestthingsinceslicedbread - Thanks for responding! Would you recommend the Safari tents? My friend stayed in a holiday home this Summer and said Eurocamp was one of the best holidays she's done but upon looking at the mobile homes they are so much more expensive than the tents so we thought we might give it a try. I've never stayed in a tent before so its all very new to me. Do you feel safe? like at night time. Also going back to Dulra's comment, are you near toilets/showers etc.

The safari tent were great. They were half way between proper camping and a mobile home. We all had real beds and a full bathroom and kitchen just all in a tent. We felt safe. We used Canvas holidays but I think Eurocamp also do them. There is also a company called Huttopia that has them. My two boys love Eurocamp holidays as there is lots to do and it's safe for them to go out and about on bikes and scooters. Hope that helps

Growing up we as a family almost always did Eurocamp holidays in tents. Obviously it's different from the child's perspective but I've done it up until about age 17/18 so do have a reasonable idea!
How close you are to toilet blocks depends on the site, which pitch you get, and how many loo blocks there are. I don't think I've ever been further than say a 3-4min walk away.
You don't lock up personal things - either leave them securely (hidden etc) in the car or take them with you. I'm thinking passports, cards etc here. Phones would generally go with you anyway! I'd usually put kindle/iPod type things in the car.
I've never felt unsafe and I've camped solo in a teeny tiny tent too. Eurocamp is mostly made up of families or retired couples (earlier and later in the summer usually for the latter) - we made friends with the kids nearby and used to play with them, colour in each others tents etc.
Eurocamp provide kitchen equipment so you don't need to worry about bringing that - it's an easy intro to camping!

It did get a little cold at night... We were staying in Brittany in August so not hot temperatures.

I've Eurocamped three times, the first two in standard tents with young children which were fantastic with proper beds and a spacious living area with a good sized table and the last one recently in a mobile with adults and that was massively uncomfortable, the mobile was very poorly designed and the shared lounge area was awful - not enough chairs and the built in bench seat too high and narrow to actually sit in. The safari tents looked so much better

Not eurocamp but have stayed in static tents in France and Croatia in a huttopia site and an arena site. Both fab, it's just like a hut but canvas walls. Both had proper beds, loo and shower, cooking facilities and fridge and freezer. Both had a padlock to secure the tent door but it doesn't tend to be a problem, people camp fine in normal tents without any concerns. The Croatia one had a little safe in the tent if needed.

We are trying it next year! One week in a mobile then moving sites and trying the safari tent. They looked so fab last time we were there we were curious to try them. Will have a 5 month old and a 12 year old so loo in the middle of the night not such a problem (nappies and DD doesn’t go in the middle of the night, if she did need to she could go herself with a torch).

We love camping and I don’t see this as much different other than you have more kitchen facilities and no faff setting up and taking down.

We try not to take valuables. Watches and jewellery stay in the safe at home (why take them camping?), whereas kindles, phones, passports and purses will be with us all the time in a backpack or locked in the car which is probably no less safe than locked in a flimsy caravan! Some sites have safety deposit boxes if you’re really concerned.

I've camped in both normal eurocamp tents & also safari style. The safari are cool much more like glamping but more open plan. The traditional tents have more "rooms".

Never felt unsafe - what do you think might happen, theft? Valuables get locked in the car.

I found mobile home more comfortable. Nighttime toileting! Plus being able to wash hands/vegetables etc.

But next holiday we might go in a proper tent but kn a eurocamp style site. Even cheaper!!
