Or are the digital scales?

Just weighted myself on my mil digital scales. Apparently I've put on a stone. Tbf it could be true, I haven't weighed myself for a while. But I can't believe it's that much.

Any chance the scales are being totally unreasonable?

Have the scales been moved? Sometimes they need recalibration if they have been moved around.
Try turning them on, then let them turn off, then turn them back on and weigh yourself.

Hmm not sure tbh. They always seem to be in the same spot, I just tried them on a whim. It came up with "guest" when I stood on them. Will try switching on and off.

You say you have put on a stone.

Is this on the same scales?

If so, and you don't think it is right, then change the batteries and try again.

If different scales then ?????? No matter how well calibrated all scales will be a bit different. Two unrelated scales could easily put you getting on for stone different on the same day at the same time.

My digital scales are exactly the same as the doctors and exactly one stone above my mum’s old school dial scales.

screamer1 · 01/09/2019 22:40

@Hecateh that's interesting. I didn't know that. I don't generally weight myself but (densely) thought that big you weighted yourself then the scales would show the right weight, like weighing a bag of sugar.

I sent my lying bitch into a corner and she ain't coming out until she apologises.

mumderland · 01/09/2019 22:43

It's also 10.45pm so take in to account how much you eaten and drank today plus clothes?

MorrisZapp · 01/09/2019 22:43

Go to Boots and weigh yourself on the 'healthy weight' machine, then calibrate your scales to match.

screamer1 · 01/09/2019 22:45

Ok going to strip naked and weigh myself first thing.

were the scales on a hard and even surface? being on a carpet can affect the weight shown quite a bit.

home scales are not accurately calibrated so they can be out by a couple of pounds either way.

If you want to check they're accurate just find something heavy with the weight on it like a big bag of rice or something and see whether it's accurate or over/under weighs it. Then apply it to your own stats.

Oh clever @which1

My digital scales seem to be very accurate. I weighed several bags of flour and sugar on mine and it came out with the exact weight in Kilos that they should have been.

I always use them in the same place, on a very hard surface, first thing in the morning and almost naked!

I always let them turn on and then off before using them, just in case.
