To Not understand why people get so selfish at the airport?

I just don’t get why brits on their family
holidays get so stressy. I walk through the airport seeing them flapping about and highly strung. People are hugely territorial of their personal space. The sheer hostility towards fellow human beings in the queue for boarding.

Then on the plane, people up and down, up and down checking/fetching stuff from their baggage in the overhead lockers.

Then when landed, people in the middle
of the plane deciding they deserve to disembark first and so blocking the aisle for everyone else to get their bags.

What is it about airports that make people so selfish/stressed out

If you don't fly frequently then it is stressful. They've prob saved up all year for this one trip and the whole process around checking in, security etc can be really stressful if you're not used to it.

I travel a lot with work so I now know it's no big deal, first year I did it I was constantly stressed out about getting there on time, remembering all my documents, time to check bags in, security, which gate, not being late etc.

As for the standing up before the doors were out I never get tbh.

WhoKnew, the people standing up before the doors open are probably like me, on very tight timing for connecting flights! KLM are particularly bad for doing this. We once got moved to the front of the plane by the cabin crew, given a gate number, and told “As soon as we open the door - start running!”

I was just wondering,,, if you open the overhead locker above your seat and a bag is already in there, can't you take it out to put yours in

And then what do you do with the bag you've taken out and left holding?

Even if you do fly regularly, things change so often.

We fly at least 3 times per year from Manchester and there's always something that has changed, whether its the entrance to the car park we usually use, or the layout of the check in/security area, or they move the car park bus stops, or the entrance to security has moved. Nothing ever stays the same these days.

Then at other airports, they have different rules for what has to go through the x-ray separately on trays. Some airports want your mobile phone and ipad out of your bag, others don't. Some want your belt off, others don't. How long it will take to go through security is a lottery - sometimes just a few minutes, other times could be an hour - it's not how busy it is, it's how may staff are on and how many channels are open (and how stroppy the staff are at the time!)

We started flying regularly 35 years ago. Manchester airport didn't change from year to year - it was always the same. It really made travelling a lot easier.

3 times per year isn't a lot, I do that most months
