AIBU to think TescoBank have had their email hacked?

I've just received an email from the genuine TescoBank credit card email address, but addressed to 'recipient', with very poor grammar, asking me to click a link that purported to be the Tesco bank website but was actually Some random site in Ukraine.

So clearly I am not unreasonable. What can I do? I've emailed their phishing team but if that account is compromised too then that won't help. It is a VERY good scam.

Virus check immediately if you clicked on the link.
They won't have been hacked. Its just a program to make it appear as if its come from Tesco.
Don't worry Tesco will be fine Smile

Is there a phone number you could ring. Possibly the e mail won’t be monitored at this hour?
I’d consider ringing any number of theirs that has 24/7 service just to help stop people falling for it - which unfortunately they will

Right click on the email address and it will probably read something else.
I very much doubt the banks email has been hacked, they have just spoofed the address

It's a very good programme, even with looking at the full sender email it comes up as from tescobank. My email account put it in to my conversation with Tesco. Don't worry, I don't click links Smile

No, I did the phone equivalent of right click. It's still showing as coming from Tesco.

I just got my second one today. It looks legitimate and is basically saying I need to update my contact number. Haven’t clicked on the link and didn’t with the last one. I’m sure they’ll write to me if it’s so urgent and I’m not responding to emails.

I have been gwtribg similar from Amazon for tbe oaat month. Looks comoletwmy genuine but its a scam becsuse theyve niw emailed me twice weekly for 6 weeks to tell me my bank card associated with my Amazon account will expire on different dates.
The email address shows as the genuine Amazon one. No idea how they do it but it's a scam.

Unfortunately it is relatively simple for a scammer to spoof the genuine email address of companies. Absolutely nothing that Tesco bank can do about this. That's why I never click links that are sent via email, will always copy and paste it into my browser to see if it is genuine.

You can report it to Action Fraud.
