Not a vet- but it looks like a cut. Should heal quickly, just keep an eye on it.

Ravenblack · 31/08/2019 17:05

Looks like he bit it or caught it on something. Will probably turn into an ulcer. He should be OK and it should heal. But keep an eye on it.

Sorry, no help, I'm just mightily impressed that you managed to get such a good picture in your cats mouth. Mine would have had my arm off Grin

How did you manage to get that photo! I am VERY impressed. I am thinking it may be the result of a scratch in a fight - the top layer has been pulled off. I know of a cat that got in a fight and ended up having to go to the vet to have a claw removed from the back of their tongue so it would not be unheard of to have been scratched on the tongue. Agree with pp - keep an eye on it to ensure it doesn't become infected. If your cat starts drooling a lot or dropping mouthfuls of food that could be a sign that their mouth is hurting.

Does look like a cut. Any chance they could have licked the edge of an open tin or its lid? I always have to put tins straight in the recycling otherwise mine will be all over them, even baked beans and tomato soup, absolutely anything! Like PP said keep an eye and if not healed in a week or starts showing signs of pain or infection then definitely vets. Cats are notoriously good at hiding pain though, so like someone else said, watch for dropping food when eating or not eating as a sign of pain. Chances are it will be fine though!

He s a little lamb in my daughters hands lol. She was playing with him with a stick the same morning i think thats how he got scratch. Hopefully he ll be fine, we r going away for a couple if weeks so cant keep an eye on him after next few days. He s an outdoor cat so not usually in long enough to find cans .
