Long story short: lost mum 4 years ago, due to complications haven't been able to sell her house yet.

Now a family member has moved in, they intend to buy it, no problems there, but they are making changes before they actually own it.

I don't know why but it really bothers me. I know it's ridiculous but I'd have preferred it sold to strangers, rather than them acting like they own it while in my mind it's still mums.

IABU, I know it, they're totally trustworthy, but... still bugs me.

So please MN, kick my arse into touch.

Doing up the house saved my sanity after losing both parents in six months. It soaked up the grief and channelled in a constructive way. My only sadness was that my mum would have absolutely loved the beautiful new kitchen and lovely sparkling bathroom. The first time I drove up when it was finished, I swear I heard her say “I do like the new front door”. Yes, I know it’s bonkers.

@Bluetrews25 yes, you and @Thatssomebadhatharry have a very good point. I do trust them, and at least they'll be paying the council tax, bills etc (don't start me how they can charge full council tax on an empty property when mum as a single occupant had a discount) but I do need to run it past a lawyer, ty.

@Alsohuman both parents within 6 months? What an awful loss. FlowersWine for you. You're not bonkers BTW.

Thank you. 2015 was an awful year but, much as I still miss them both, life goes on. And I still talk to them every day. Absolutely bonkers!

No you're not being silly. I'm sorry you lost your beautiful mum. Sending hugs.
