To think this is an awful thing to say?!

Went out with colleagues last night and spoke to one who I’m friendly with but still don’t know that well. We are the same age/level and work as part of a larger team. He was discussing how he is working with a senior manager who always seems quite wooden at work, very attractive etc but never really seem to let people “in”. I have no problems with him but am always a bit on awe of how he manages to separate his personal and work life out so well. We were drunk and I was trying to banter a bit so said something like, don’t tell anyone I told you this, but senior manager looks like he “recreationally kills people at weekends. Just something behind the eyes.” I then went onto state I had no problems with him and it was just because he was so serious etc I had said that - woken up today and absolutely mortified!!!! Who says stuff like that. Is it rescuable?! Think was trying to be irreverent and funny but just completely missed the mark, I thought it was funny at the time but not good to say that to someone unless you are really, really good friends......

They laughed and agreed so it is a none issue.

It's fine, it's funny. People taking the piss out of their bosses is as old as time

This quote from Derry Girls fits this post absolutely perfectly! www.instagram.com/p/B1Bzfw0AEw1/?igshid=mylh37380wo4

Hahah. You should work where I do. We’d say that (and far worse) sober and to each other’s faces. It’s fairly anarchic but we have a v low staff turn over rate and those on short term placements come back as locums so seems to work Grin

You have post drinking anxiety where you relive every last word, and in the cold light of day it doesn't sound quite so great! Grin

You could have called him far worse things, it was a lighthearted joke, forget it! Next time don't drink so much, so you can keep your comments in check and won't feel terrible the next day.

If Sr manager is a white man, it was a racist joke because of the myth that white men are more likely to be mass murderers.

Good grief.

Even if it did get back, which it won’t, no-one is going to say she was a racist.

@walkintheparc

Great minds think alike. Look a couple of posts up!

This has to be a joke in itself.

dollydaydream114 · 29/08/2019 13:08

This is a such a non-issue. It was honestly a pretty bland joke comment and nobody will even remember you said it, or give a shit if they do. You’ve got nothing at all to worry about.

I had a boss like that who's moved to a new workplace. I wonder if it's the same guy...
