Are these shoes hideous?

Sorry, not really an AIBU but I need an opinion! I'm due back at work soon after mat leave and I'm looking for some comfortable work shoes that will last me. It seems my feet have gotten bigger after having DC, and my old ballerinas no longer fit me Hmm

I've found these on Clarks but I'm not sure..

I much prefer the shoes you bought instead - the others were very school shoey!

WhoKnewBeefStew · 29/08/2019 06:01

I like them

LemonYumYums · 29/08/2019 06:14

Yup, school shoes was my immedIate thought.

OneStepSideways · 29/08/2019 06:20

I think they're hideous, remind me of 80s kids shoes!

AdoreTheBeach · 29/08/2019 06:31

I like them and Clark’s shoes were recommended to me by my physio after my badly broken foot/ankle operation and recovery. Thank you for sharing - I’m ordering a pair!

MyCatPeedOnTheCurtains · 29/08/2019 07:19

They look comfy but I don't like them.

MyCatPeedOnTheCurtains · 29/08/2019 07:21

Actually they look like the type of shoes my Mum would force me to wear for school in the late 70's, early 80's.

WingBingo · 29/08/2019 07:24

What about Hamble Oaks?

CloudsCanLookLikeSheep · 29/08/2019 07:26

Reminds me of t bar patent school shoes in the 80s. It's a no from me!

MashedSpud · 29/08/2019 07:28

I had these in the 70’s for school but not in patent.

I like them.

Scratchyfluffface · 29/08/2019 07:30

Ewww no. I had a pair almost exactly like them throughout primary school!

MulberryPeony · 29/08/2019 07:30

I don’t mind them but my 12 year old just went to school in the non patent style today Blush

MrsElijahMikaelson1 · 29/08/2019 07:34

They are school shoes that even my DD wouldn’t wear (15yo)

GammaStingRay · 29/08/2019 07:40

Wouldn’t say ‘hideous’ but they’re a bit twee for a grown adult. They’re very ‘it’s my first day at primary school’.

Ski4130 · 29/08/2019 07:42

I think they’re pretty grim, but I think it’s because they remind me of the school shoes my mum made me wear.

Jebuschristchocolatebar · 29/08/2019 07:42

Awful. They scream school shoe or “kooky and alternative annoying person” especially if you wear them with ankle socks

Monty27 · 29/08/2019 07:44

I like them. Out of my price range sadly.
Get them, treat yourself. Good luck on your return to work Smile

GimmeeCaffeine · 29/08/2019 07:44

I’m not a fan, but it’s all personal taste isn’t it?

marvellousnightforamooncup · 29/08/2019 07:59

I like them. I think you could make them work.

jesuschristwtf · 29/08/2019 08:01

Awful sorry, looks like a five year olds pair of shoes. Try Rockports.

Atlasta · 29/08/2019 08:02

Awful. Primary school T bars.

scotwood · 29/08/2019 08:08

They look like old fashioned disabled shoes.

Sad

I think they are nice, but a lot of young ones are wearing T - Bars just now. DD had the Dr Marten Polleys last year and DD2 has the kickers of the same style this year. Both high school age.

myself2020 · 29/08/2019 08:09

It depends where you work. Alternative environment- great. standard office wear- not so much, they are quite casual

BalanchineBallet · 29/08/2019 08:12

Completely grim.

Circe32 · 29/08/2019 08:13

Eek. Sorry, but both are awful.
