Screaming neighbours!

So I'm probably being unreasonable here as it is summer and they're only kids, but I need mumsnet opinions here! Next door have two kids, about 3 and 4 I think. They play outside pretty much all day, which I think is lovely, especially as parents join in as well. Currently, however, they've been literally screaming while jumping into the pool for the last hour or so. For the last couple of weeks they've been loudly playing in the garden past 11 most nights. The first time I heard it it was the little girl, and it genuinely sounded like she was being abducted! I know the answer will be to talk fo them, but they don't seem to be the most reasonable of people; they have some sort of feud with the people opposite and stand in the street swearing at them, so not really people I want to get involved with! So firstly, AIBU to be annoyed by the noise at this time? And what are some creative solutions to dealing with it without having to shut the windows? :D

God we have the same neighbours!
The kids scream and shout from getting up to going to bed-all we hear is ‘Jayden Jayden Jayden!’ Or ‘Riley Riley Riley!’ all sodding day
I’ve seen them trying to get over my fence into my garden ‘cos I wanted to-I’m bored in our garden’ the parents just laughed-they where standing there watching him-he could have slipped and really hurt himself
The dog howls all day/night
Water from the paddling pool keeps coming over my fence-soaking my washing
They jump on the trampoline and gawp over my fence
They took through the gaps in my fence if I go to hang my washing out
Balls come over at a rate of at least 6 a day-and they get snotty if we’re out and they don’t get chucked back over right that second
They row every bloody night-and then we get treated to the make up sex
DIY at all hours
The smell of weed wafts over to us
Bbq’s From about 5pm-every night

I’ve pleaded with our old neighbours to come back!they where lovely and we never heard them at all

Christ, some people are just arses. I’m sorry for anyone with such shitty neighbours.

Pcosmama · 29/08/2019 08:21

Can't you just fill in a noise complaint on the local council website? The neighbours will get a letter but won't know it syou who has complained.

Bonfires and fireworks are not a daily occurance! These little brats are!!

Aprillygirl · 29/08/2019 10:39

Ridiculous that they're allowed to play out until gone 11! The good news is though that if the eldest is 4 s/he should be starting school next week, so I would probably just wait it out to see if things calm down then. If not you will either have to speak to them or put in a noise complaint with the council. Good luck OP.

It does sound annoying but I would say try to bite the bullet for now as previous posters have said they will be back at school soon (if they go to school). We live in a large Georgian house separated into three flats and the people below us once came up to complain about noise when my partners little sisters (they are 4 and 5) were running around playing. It was a Sunday afternoon around 2pm. I personally felt it unreasonable especially as they play blaring music well into the late evening!

Let it go and it will be easier to deal with in the long run.

Would have a word with local authority. May be environmental health section. There may be bye laws about creating a disturbance continuously. If you can get another neighbour to confirm that would help. Is the house rented? Landlord can be contacted to sort out. Hope you find a solution.

Thanks all, will wait it out until next week I think! It's council owned I believe; I don't know what a complaint would lead to in that situation? Obviously I don't want to get them kicked out or anything! I'll just keep telling myself that there are worse sounds to hear from your neighbours than children playing... Angry
