AIBU to suspect they've gone under?

I've ordered blinds from Blind Direct several times, and have always received my items promptly (I do pay extra for the fast track service).

3 months ago, I ordered some more, and ........I'm still waiting! I've sent dozens of emails - spoken to customer services more than 30 times but still have sweet FA to show for it.

Everytime I call, I end up speaking to the same lady (who alternates between different namesHmm), and get a fresh lot of bull about what's going on with my order.

First it was an oversight, then they ran out of fabric, then they were really busy, then the item was being made, then production was delayed. Eventually the blinds "were out for delivery" and should be with me in 2 days. It took another 10 day and 4 calls for the company to claim that the courier had delivered my blinds to the wrong place and couldn't get them back! My blinds would have to be remade but the production department had run out of material again so would have to wait for re-delivery, production was delayed because they were so busy, but I'd definitely have my blinds by mid- August.
Here I am with September knocking on the door and not a blind in sight.

Customer service lady promised me a pathetically small token refund as a goodwill gesture but there's been no evidence of this hitting our bank account.

So, (thank you for reading this far), AIBU to suspect the company has gone bust and warm MNers to steer clear at all costs?

Did you pay by credit card?

OUwhatnext · 28/08/2019 14:28

You can check on companies house if it's a ltd company.

heylyla · 28/08/2019 14:29

Ask for your money back.

I had very similar problems with this company last year. After an awful lot of badgering via telephone, I received a refund and ordered elsewhere. Wish I'd read the reviews on their Facebook page first!

If you've paid by Card you will be protected with the Visa/Mastercard type guarantee. Call your bank and stipulate you never received your goods and you want to cancel the transaction. It can take up to a month for resolution but you will ultimately get the funds back.

Oh no! I've ordered from them twice, the first time went without a hitch, the second time they sent someone else's order but sent mine out the next week when I raised it with them. Hope they haven't gone bust, I was going to order more in the future.

Are they the same company as Roller Blinds Direct?

If so, I got a roller blind delivered by them back in July - no delays, but one of the bits was missing (they did send it promptly when contacted though).

I work in manufacturing and I can see how this chain of events may happen. However - I think I’d have offered you a full refund by now!

MountPheasant · 28/08/2019 14:53

Tell them you expend either the blinds or a refund by the end of the week. I’m surprised you’ve put up with it this long!

MountPheasant · 28/08/2019 14:53

Expect not expend!

Circe32 · 28/08/2019 14:55

What is the company registration number or registered address?

Eldestberry · 28/08/2019 15:52

I did ask for my money back and they said that due to the bespoke nature of the order that wasn't possible. I do know that the rules on cut to order goods is different to off the shelf stuff so figured if I couldn't get my money back then I may as well keep calling.

The pittance of a partial refund was apparently the most they could do, as a goodwill gesture.

Looked up the company and it seems to be owned by one person.

Despite taking payment before goods are produced, the company has around £1m debtors - lo and behold its mostly a "loan" to the owner.
