I hope this is going to make sense! We don't live in a grammar area, but there are some options outside of here that kids can apply to.
DS is just about to go into yr5. He's decided that he doesn't want to do the 11+. That's fine with me. Academically he's pretty average. He's doing fine at school, no probs but not excelling at anything either. So I don't think the grammar route would suit him.
Anyway, there are now a lot of children in his class who have just started started tutoring for the test, or have been doing it for a while. Talking to friends who've been this already, the level they're working at in this process is really advanced (so early secondary level).
I suppose I'm concerned that my child, who is already in awe of how "smart" some of his friends are, is going to start feeling even less smart as those friends are doing over and above what is done in class.
Is this ridiculous? AIBU to worry? I'm new to this so help!
