To go and tell these people to shut the hell up

Away on a glamping type weekend away. Is now nearly 1am and was woken up about half hour ago by screeching and shouting as there are 3 people in the tent next to us sitting outside drinking and talking loudly etc.

Campsite says it is zero tolerance for this type of thing as is a family site.

I can't find any 24h number to call so WIBU to go and confront them myself? Don't want to be a miserable cow but really it is inconsiderate.

I wouldn’t. I would wait until the morning and contact the number.
I did once and it just wound me up more and caused friction for the rest of the holiday.

Pretend to be the camp warden of the site and ask them kindly to be quiet. They won't remember in the morning

I feel your pain OP! Very inconsiderate. If you do, just be mindful they've been drinking and might not be as polite back as you'd hope... good luck!!

I agree. Dont confront drunken idiots now or it might escalate.
Surely a nice loud sing song around 7 am would be in order ? Whilst crashing plates around and banging knives and forks together.

I’d just really politely say so sorry but can you keep it down as it’s very late. Then do lots of early morning noise and complain about them.

Hopefully they shut up soon and you manage some sleep ... another vote here for the early morning crash bang wollop just in time for their hangover kicking in.

Did you let your kids bring recorders with them? I’m pretty sure they need to practice Greensleeves at 4:30 am.

Go and tell them. My friends and I are the sorts of people wont to be a bit noisy on a campsite even when we’re trying to keep the noise down, and respond really well to people telling us to shut the fuck up. Mostly people having fun are just caught in the moment, not totally inconsiderate assholes, and will be fine if you tell them to put a sock in it.

I.e. they probably just don’t realise how loud they are - much the same as people with kids often don’t realise how loud their kids are being!

yeah, put food on their roof so that birds shit and squawk all over their tent.
radio on loudly as soon as you get up.
lots of banging and crashing around and plenty yelling.
then complain them to the site owners.

If you are going to be noisy in the morning don't forget the other people that are there, you know, the ones you don't notice because they are quiet and probably would like it to be quiet.

It went on until about 2am and then thankfully someone else went over and complained, it continued for about 15 more minutes then they finally shut up.

My dogs escaped at about 8 am this morning so I had no qualms in yelling at them to come back whilst chasing them in the direction of the offending tent

I won't stay on sites that aren't staffed at night any more, after being kept awake by a large, very drunk and very noisy group. One couple had a huge, shouty drunken row and then two of the men decided to race their 4x4 pick-ups round the campsite ... at 3am ... pissed out of their heads.

There were no staff onsite and no mobile signal, so I couldn't call the police. I lay in the tent terrified, as they raced round and round, and through the gap between our tent and the hedge.

They also let their dogs run loose and in the morning, a pair of dogs came and attacked mine, who were tethered. My little lakeland bitch wasn't much more than pup, but proper feisty and she hung on to the ear of a boxer cross and did some proper damage. My boy (also lakeland) was totally traumatised, but not hurt.

We rarely stay at sites now we have a motorhome, but I still wouldn't stop at one that's unstaffed.

So now it's 5pm and the same group are playing loud music drinking and singing along loudly. Fine for now but hope we don't have a repeat tonight, hoping they will wear themselves out

I would go reception and get the out of hours number to ring if any noise after 11pm.
Let the staff know that you're worried the noise might continue until early hours.
The party might just be warming up as it's a holiday tomorrow.

Have got out of hours number as asked for it this morning. Hopefully I won't have to use it!!!! The site doesn't allow group bookings but they have circumvented this by booking multiple tents.

God I sound like a miserable cow, but with a 5 hour drive home tomorrow on bank holiday Monday I need my sleep!!

There must be a number to call. And what is so wrong about going over and asking them to keep it down? Just do it, and say that you will call the site owners if they don't keep it down.
