next year I will be auditioning for Drama schools for the first time. I will not be applying to university just drama schools. some schools are part of uni campuses, such as Guildford, but I will not be applying to anywhere that is not acreadted by the FDS.

what I would like to know is should I disclose my ASD. The reason I would like to know is because I have heard that haveing any Mental/ emotional issue will put you in the rejection pile before you even turn up to audition Confused.

Obviously I understand that Drama school is both Physically and emotionally challenging. But I really want this and am willing to work hard.

I also know that although the minimum age is officially 18, a majority won’t take you till at least 20, for the reason that most 18 year olds are just not mature enough.

Does anyone have any experience with this and/or have any advice for me.

Thanks in advance

I can't help on the specific drama school angle nevertheless ASD is not a mental issue. It's a neurological one. It's the way your brain is wired. It makes you different not better or worse than anyone else. It's you and something you should not have to worry about putting on a form, but it is also something you don't need to disclose in my opinion either any more than I would if I were say colour blind or something (sorry not a good example).
It's up to you, but I wouldn't put it on there. At school you'll be assigned a personal tutor with whom you will engage on pastoral issues and you would tell them so they're aware.

Or now I'm typing this, I'm pretty certain having ASD shouldn't make them less likely to offer you a place. It really shouldn't.
