How would you fence this off prettily?

I need to fence my front garden but I'm struggling to see how I can make it aesthetically pleasing.

I don't want to post pictures because that's would be obviously be quite outing so I'll try to describe the problem as best I can.

A big concrete driveway, long and narrow from house to pavement, no problem at all to fence across.

The problem is the low flower border that runs the whole length next to it.

The border is densely planted with low growing flowers, only about 20ish cms tall.

I can't fence the garden straight across the top (where the flower border starts) because this means we will lose both car parking spaces.

I need to fence from halfway down, this means we retain one car parking space whilst keeping others out of the garden.

But a fence running along the driveway that then stops at the densely planted flower border is going to look odd right?

Unless I take the fence all the way across into the flower bed which surely will look even worse?!

How would you do it?

i would use a picket style fence, it's small so not overbearing and would look good with the flower beds.

Make a feature of where the fencing ends, with an archway going across the border?

Still can't really visualise it though. Can you draw a picture to illustrate?

Needs to be tall enough to actively keep people out unfortunately, the flower border has a cheap little pocket style fence all along it which is attractive but it can be very easily stepped over. I need something taller.

I have put it off and put it off because I can't envision it being done attractively and kids never really come into my garden but DH coming downstairs today saying he'd seen neighbouring children chasing our cat down my driveway and searching for her in the neighbours hedge is the final straw for me.

And yes I will draw a picture soon to illustrate better

How would you walk from the car to your house in that diagram? Would there be a small gate or a path over the flowers?

Why not have a conventional fence along the pavement with a gate for the car to get in/out?

Gate.
Should have mentioned in my original post that it needs to be fenced with a gate

Could you put a fence all along the very end and then a large gate for your cars to fit through ?

ElizaDee · 24/08/2019 12:12

I'd get gates at the bottom where the pavement is too.

Who do you have to keep out?

We have a picket fence. It's just tall enough to not be able to step over comfortably, it's just below waist height. The gate also has an annoying fiddly catch which puts off chuggers a bit too! It's also a nice sky blue.
We're end of terrace and the access to the garages is next to us so we needed something bloody obvious.
