Sorry posting here for traffic as outing and slightly embarrassing so have name changed!!

Just had a baby 8 weeks ago. Been prescribed anusol for a small fissure. I'm breast feeding and asked GP if it was okay to use and he said yes no issue. Today I've opened it to use and the instructions clearly say do not use if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Does anyone have any experience?

Thanks in advance! And sorry for posting here xx

Honestly everything is marked as this just in case. I'd just take it.

If you go on the breastfeeding network U.K. page on FB (think that’s what it’s called) you can message them as they are really knowledgeable on research. There are also drug factsheets on their website. Most medicinal things have it as standard but in many cases it’s overkill. Worth checking although it’s probably fine if the doctor was willing to go against the label.

Everything is marked that as PP said.

Because how could tests and trials be truly carried out?

I don't know many willing pregnant women who would be up for it!?

Projectbanjo · 25/08/2019 07:11

Gp gave me it and I’ve been using on and off for 8 months DD’s been breastfeeding with no issue if that helps

^^ my doctor and midwife told me this by the way

Isn't anusol a topical cream? I don't see how that could possibly enter your bloodstream in large enough quantities to affect breastmilk.

Most medications say "do not use what pregnant or breastfeeding" because they haven't done studies on the effects and therefore just cover their backs.

A idol is fine to use if your breastfeeding, don't worry

*anusol. Flipping autocorrect

SnuggyBuggy · 25/08/2019 07:18

It's bad because there are some things like lemsip that you really shouldn't take.
