Hi,
My tips:
*Things sell well if reasonably priced. I think of Ebay as things good too good for Charity Shop, but not at the Cash 4 Clothes stage yet. If you have a tonne of things in your wardrobe have a realistic dig through and see if anything should be sent to Cash 4 Clothes/ Sent to charity to shop - what is left, stick on Ebay.
Be as specific as possible re. any marks or pulls on garments. If these are present, state "this is reflected in the price"* in your description so people know you are aware of them and have priced them appropriately.
*Whatever Ebay suggests is the postage price; add minimum of +£0.50 as it is never enough. I have found myself selling something for £3, with £3 postage and then it costs me £3.75 to post. Just not worth the hassle sometimes.
I would mention "No Refunds"* in your description to prevent any CF'ers
*Worth mentioning if it is from a smoke/pet-free home. If either of those things are not the case, just don't mention anything at all. Do NOT mention that you smoke or have pets as it is obviously off-outing. No mention of these things covers you if anyone should have a complaint
*When I receive parcels from online orders, I keep the packaging bags. When posting eBay items I use these bags, turned inside out and package appropriately. Saves the environment by not buying more plastic bags (I like to think), saves you money and is still quality packaging to your buyers. In a push I have bought good quality black bags and trimmed down to appropriate size and used as packaging bags.
*I would give it 5 days after posting and assuming all is ok, leave your reviews for your buyers. This acts as an incentive for them to do likewise.
*Party dresses do sell well. Your sequin ones do better near Xmas as people are buying them up for their nights out.
*Boots sell well. I usually get several bids when selling ankle/knee boots etc. Heels tend not to do so well, for whatever reason.
*Bags never sell well for me, even when paired with matching shoes. Again, not sure why. I think that heels and bags are so cheap to buy from Primark that sometimes its as easy to get from there.
*Designer items will always garner more interest/more bids.
*You could choose to sell "bundles" if you have a massive amount of clothes to sell - in your description just list what is included. Incentive is that people re getting multiple items so they feel like they're getting a good deal, saves you posting multiple different items online, and also gets them out your way. Price appropriately for how much is in the bundle/quality of items.
*Take photos from front and back. Photo of sizing label/brand label. Photograph any marks or pulls to ensure you have demonstrated these as required. I do not post photos of myself wearing the items but if they are still on sale I do pinch the photos form online and use those. as they are often far more impressive than my door hanging ones!
