To not build the trampoline

So, the DC finally wore me down about getting a trampoline. It arrived this morning, I cut the grass and DS 11 started helping me unpack the boxes. He noticed from the picture that it has a net round it and began complaining that it made the trampoline boring. I asked him if he was being serious (he has form for ‘joking’ and being sarcastic) and he said no, he was serious. I put down the instructions and went back inside to carry on with my day.

AIBU to expect an apology from him followed by profuse offers of help to build it before I even consider not sending it back?

I will take this small and lovely moment.

A summary of good parenting Grin

Yes, I ache today Grin

So nice to read about your good experiences of trampolines. I want my DC to get more exercise and spend more time outdoors and I just thought, if not now, when?

Also proud because I had a small bounce this morning and no wee came out 🙌

nice one op.

it once took me 10 hours to build a flat pack wardrobe. it was pine and the instructions were in chinese. i felt it a hard won victory when it finally stood up without falling to bits.

All my neighbours have trampolines we are the odd ones out for not having one. My kids want one but I didn’t fancy putting it together by myself, I have very little patience for building things and mine aren’t old enough to help out!

I’m not trying to be preachy but it’s a good idea to get into the habit of one child at a time on the trampoline.

We had a 14ft trampoline and thought it was ok to have both girls (very slim teens) on there at the same time. DD1 landed on DD2 during a ‘synchronised’ bounce and DD2 has such bad damage to her knee she now has a permanent limp.

Neither girl used the trampoline after that so it was converted into a run for our rabbits.
