Driving from London where is best? Where I have been in Norfolk before was horrendous for parking.
The kids are very young under age 4

Frinton is good for young children and not so far as Norfolk.

Tortadellanonna · 22/08/2019 11:40

Lowestoft, sandy beach and water fountains

bilbodog · 22/08/2019 11:43

Stop in suffolk instead? Southwold down to aldeburgh is lovely although beaches are stony. Lowestoft and kessingland sandy. Just over the border into norfolk gorleston on sea is lovely for youngsters without the tackiness of gt yarmouth.

great yarmouth good for young children ,i remember taking mine to saras tearoom for cakes. And around it were all these cheap coin operated small kiddie rides .

Thanks. I suppose these are buggy friendly?

Didn’t think about having to lift the buggy over those huge sand dunes / steps Shock

Frinton has sandy beach, grass to play on, and you can usually park for free on roads near the beach depending on how crowded it is. What it does not have is any amenities (apart from toilets) close to the beach so you are not going to be able to buy icecreams, drinks etc without trekking into town. That can be a bonus!
Walton has similarly sandy beach, and a pier with rides, and cafes and kiosks next to the beach so you can get coffee, ice creams etc. Parking is more expensive and you are probably looking at a car park, but the beach is easier to access from the station than Frinton.
I tended to go for Walton when the kids were smaller and Frinton now that they are a bit older.

I used to take buggy to Walton all the time - there's a concrete slope thing going down to the beach at the bit near the pier. I am not sure about the Naze end.
Frinton has more of a slope from the top down to the beach but it is doable with a buggy and there are bits where there is a slope onto the beach rather than steps. We usually go where the art deco houses are rather than near the town, so that is the bit I am describing!

Lowestoft North Beach is sandy dunes; so probably not buggy friendly. When I last went there in Spring there was hardly any sand left on the South Beach!

Dunwich beach is nice but shingly.

Walberswick also nice. Maybe try Southwold?

Clacton is also sandy and accessible.
