Heavy period at a festival...

OoohMasala · 20/08/2019 16:43

Nearly 10 months after having a baby. Periods returned straight away and unlike any I've ever had before. Bad bad PMS and as heavy as when I had lochia. I feel disgusting a lot of the time and have on occasion bought disposable pants as tampons and sanitary towels don't last more than 30 mins in the first few days.

Feel stupid as a 27 year old woman asking for period advice, but can anyone advise on how I can enjoy this festival without it being ruined by my hellish period?

A mooncup wouldn't help in this situation. I had the same very very heavy period, using a mooncup stopped the blood/clots coming out, and meant it was just horrendous to change. A huge flood as soon as I broke the seal. I do love the mooncup now but it didn't suit the very heavy periods.

I would also suggest period pants but again, not sure where you’d get them at short notice.

MrsFoxPlus4Again · 23/11/2019 14:45

I wouldn’t advise a mooncup for the first time at a festival. That’s not ideal at all and they aren’t for everyone. Sometimes it takes a few different brands to figure out size and comfort.

Another one agreeing with Ibuprofen. Start now and take maximum doseage......just make sure you eat. Helps with blood flow massively for me

MoaningMinniee · 23/11/2019 14:47

@Wood7 It's possible that the tablet has messed up your cycle, but if there is the faintest possibility you could be pregnant it might be a good idea to take a test. Whatever the result of that make an appointment to see your GP as soon as possible.

Just seen this is an old thread! I did wonder what festival was on in Middle of winter haha

ohwheniknow · 23/11/2019 14:48

@Wood7

You need to start your own thread

which1 · 23/11/2019 14:49

You need to take tranexanic acid tablets. Request from GP. They are good and cause your blood to clot better so less comes out basically.

MoaningMinniee · 23/11/2019 14:49

Also @Wood7 yy it's entirely possible that the stress isn't helping... whatever the reason for your periods not happening you will feel better once you have seen a medical professional. Worrying about things won't help. Best wishes.

DisplayPurposesOnly · 23/11/2019 14:50

@Wood7 you need to start your own thread. As you've seen, people are reading the original post and adding their comments, so yours is getting overlooked.

I've no experience of norethisterone, but yes stress can stop periods. I suggest you see your GP if you are worried. If you have had sex, then do a pregnancy test (even if you have used contraceptives) to rule out the obvious first.

MoaningMinniee · 23/11/2019 14:51

Ooops yes this is an old thread.. not quite Zombie! @Wood7 definitely start your own thread, perhaps in Women's Health rather than AIBU?
