My ds has a mole at the top of his thigh I saw this a lot when he was little obvs. However now he's older I haven't seen it for a while, I fought sight of it today and think it looks a bit strange but I can't quite remember how it looked before.

It feels bumpy and has dark spots in it, I do have a pic but not sure if it's clear enough x

My DS was born with a small one on his neck. I was told any changes ever and he was to get it checked out.

Emus · 18/08/2019 18:24

Never hurts to get moles checked over OP. You've reminded me that I need to get a few of my own checked!

Greeborising · 18/08/2019 18:24

Chances are it’s totally fine but if you are in any way concerned there’s no harm in getting it looked at

I have attached an image, any thoughts?

If you have any concerns then get it checked. Tell the receptionist what the appointment is for as at my surgery one GP has extra training in checking moles so she does all the mole appointments

My DS had a 'birthmark' that looked just like that on the back of his neck. He is eight now and on the waiting list to have it removed as it turns out it is a type of wart. Totally harmless in itself, but the doctor wants it removed so it doesn't get rubbed by his shirt collars.

Always best to get these things checked.

My ds has a similar one on his arm which he got referred for. It was fine - the specialist said to just keep an eye and use suncream.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 18/08/2019 19:11

DS has a one too (looks like that one) and obviously since he’s got bigger so has it! Get it looked at so that you aren’t wondering. A friend is a dermatologist so had a look when he was visiting - they just look at it using a big magnifying light with lights on it and goggles - takes half a mo and completely painless.

Better safe than worried.

jgjgjgjgjg · 18/08/2019 19:12

Definitely get it checked out. My DD just got one removed from her face, turned out to be a very rare type of mole but luckily benign.

Balladenny · 18/08/2019 19:43

Get it checked. See if your GP practice has a ‘dermatology lead’ - lots do.

Houseworkavoider · 18/08/2019 20:22

Yanbu.
Get it checked. Looks like the one my Dsis had removed as a teenager. Hers was benign but better safe than sorry.

daisypond · 18/08/2019 20:25

Get it checked out. My DH has twice had small moles checked out and both turned out to be malignant melanoma, even though the hospital hadn’t thought they were anything but removed them to be on the safe side.

Summersunshine2 · 18/08/2019 20:39

Obv get it checked as everyone else has said.
My tip is to put a tape measure against it and take a picture with the date. That way you can keep an eye on it and see any real growth for him as he becomes an adult if they don't remove it.

kitk · 18/08/2019 20:44

Looks like several of mine, but check with a pharmacist first

dollydaydream114 · 18/08/2019 22:27

Looks like a very normal mole to me (I have two like that which I've had since I was tiny) but if you're concerned it's absolutely fine to take him to the GP to get it checked.

Skinandbones · 18/08/2019 22:42

It looks like the ones I have, gp said it was a cauliflower wart. I had one high up on my bum, which because it grows the bumpy bit can be knocked off and mine would bleed. My gp do minor surgery so I had it frozen off. Might be worth asking your gp, if it's in a place where it will caught.
