Does anybody live in a flat with a DP & DS?

Just that really. We live in a house in the moment, it isn't that great and we want to move somewhere cheaper and closer to our family.

We have one DC and we've found a lovely and spacious flat that we want to view. But want to weigh up the pros and cons first.

Is there anybody on here who has lived/lives in a flat with a young DC? Is it a big no no or is it doable?

I live in a flat with me, dh, ds, and dc2 on the way.
Its fine because we have a garage and my parents live 10mins away with a big garden for the paddling pool/sand pit etc.
We want to move when DC2 is a toddler though as DSs bedroom is tiny.

Of course it’s doable Hmm

I don’t understand- if it’s lovely and spacious what is the problem?

It will be fine. Only thing I would say is think about flooring options. My friend moved into a flat and had constant complaints about her children running around. She ended up constantly having to try to keep them entertained so they wouldn't. In that case it was more difficult though as there weren't any other families living in the building so everyone sided with neighbour

How old is DS? Our last flat was on the 1st floor (we're on the ground floor now) and the main annoyances were lugging the pushchair up the stairs and worrying about the downstairs neighbours - I had laminate flooring and a bouncy 2 year old. Also none of the windows were child safe so I was very paranoid about making sure they were shut properly.

We live in a maisonette with our 2 DDs.
There's no outside space, which makes doing the recycling/bins difficult, but other than that, I love it.
We moved here from a (tiny, grim) house when DD2 was 8 weeks old.
If the flat you've seen is spacious, and neighbours are decent sorts then go for it.

We've been in a second floor flat since DS was 6. He is now 10. We're quite content here. It would be nice to have a back door to a garden, but on the other hand we spent a lot less time, money and energy on keeping the place clean and tidy and on garden and building maintenance than we did in a house. It's not far to the park and we often hang around the school playground after school. Lots of other families do as most of us live in flats. DS has his mates there and there is almost always someone for me to chat on the benches.

Haha! I live in a flat with dh and 3 dc. It’s fine, actually lovely. Rent is cheap so
We have loads of money left to travel and enjoy life and time together.

I recommend carpet and good underlay. Foam tiles for toddlers. Definitely no laminate unless you want to constantly try control your kids noise levels!

I rented a 2 bed flat when my boys were little and before I split with my ex husband. We loved it. The flat was huge, massive living room and kitchen. Both bedrooms were decent sizes. Houses with the same amount of bedrooms and for the same rent per month were all tiny two up two downs. It was 2nd floor but we had an elevator, would have been awful without one and trying to lug a toddler and a baby up the stairs. Funnily enough I felt more secure in a flat than a house as it felt as though we had more protection around us.
