To be really pissed off that I've been on a massive diet and I've actually GAINED weight instead of lost it?

Probably about 2-3 stone overweight and need to shift the pounds. I have reduced to 1400 calories per day, and I am doing CouchTo5K. I've been on the diet a week and a half and I've gained 3 pounds!!!

I've been really careful to count the calories right, include calories from drinks and sauces etc. I've even been going on walks on my 'rest day' between each run.
AIBU to be annoyed, pissed off and wonder what I'm doing wrong?

Can you share how old you are, OP?

Water retention/ time of the month/ needing a poo can all be reasons. I put on a few pounds the week leading up to my period every month x

How old are you @Babysharkdoodoodoodoodoo? I think age makes a difference.

When I was slim and strong and in my twenties I was full of good advice about how it was just a case of cutting calories to 2000 Hmm

Could it be water retention due to monthly cycle? I can easily gain that in water before my period.

AngelasAshes · 16/08/2019 19:31

Normal fluctuation is +/- 3lbs anyway due to whether you are slight dehydrated or retaining water.
Following a diet for 1.5wks is too soon anyway to lose weight.

You aren’t doing anything wrong, just keep chipping away at it.

After a week and a half it would only be your first weigh in (weighing weekly) so it's too soon. I'd keep going or cut back on the running and see where you are at the 2 week point then the 3 week point. I'd imagine you'll have a big drop at some point and it may be sooner than you think.
