To be scared of going to my GP

NC for this.
I know somethings not right and googling im worried I could potentially have Crohns. But I’d really appreciate some advice.

  • I can’t remeber the last time I had a fully solid bowel movement it’s been at the very very least 1.5 years, sometimes I have to move my bowels about 5 times a day
  • often have painful stomach cramps
  • I feel DRAINED. I have a 4 year old an a 9 month old. But they both sleep 7-7, they’re both well behaved and I’m still on mat leave. But I’m physically drained. I feel exhausted.
  • I constantly get ulcers, I currentlyhave 4 mouth ulcers and they make me feel even more drained
  • when discovering I was pregnant with DD2 i was 10stone 4, now she’s 9 months old and I’m 9stone 1. Havnt tried to loose any weight.

Does anyone think this could be purely diet related ? I don’t eat amazing, I eat one proper meal a day with the kids at tea time and it always a well cooked balanced meal. But around this I snack and graze and eat on the go
I’m basically trying to see if I can fix this myself before I go to the doctors
Because I’m absolutely terrified of any sort of invasive tests

You are being unreasonable, but you know that anyway. It's tough worrying about things, especially googling, but put yourself forward 2 years if you ignore it. Underweight, not able to care for your little ones properly because you're tired all the time and have green for years, run down and picking up every bug, stopped going out because of people asking you if you are well/I'll not/venue not near a loo etc.

Two years after seeing GP having gone through perhaps 1/2 at the most probably inside tests, this combined with blood tests showed you have coeliac disease, ibs, an intolerance or allergy, or indeed crohns etc. The medication is working, you mostly feel fine, outs managed, and all is good generally.

They are not going to go straight to invasive tests. Bloods and stool samples first...while you're waiting for this appointment, eat 3 meals a day. You can do this. I know it's scary, but they sure as heck are not going to do anything invasive on your first gp visit! Make the appointment, and step by step from there maybe? Don't forget you have to consent too these things, they don't just do it. Xx

I think that as well as making sure you eat better, you need to go to the GP. You could well have coeliac disease - and the good news is that although being gluten free is a bit of a pita, it is totally controllable through diet

FadedRed · 15/08/2019 11:24

Well you know you’re being unreasonable, though dreading the idea of tests is very understandable. The thing is that if you go now, you have some control of the future and with treatment you will start to feel better, but if you keep ignoring your symptoms, the likelihood is that you will end up becoming an emergency admission with all the problems that will bring. Please grit your teeth and see your doctor soonest.

Get to the GP! Don't put it off. Your health is your wealth and your children need you. It may not be anything too serious but really should be checked out before it escalates.

Now go, call your GP ASAP and get yourself better Thanks

Fowles94 · 15/08/2019 11:37

You best go, it could be IBS as your symptoms are very similar. As an adult we've got to be the ones to face these problems head on because no one else will. I hope its nothing too bad for you.

Embarrassednorth · 15/08/2019 11:37

Ok I’ve rang. The receptionist asked why I needed an appointment and I said headaches
I’m already so nervous my stomachs in knots

Last time I went to my GP it was taking my mum who I knew wasn’t right and 6 hours later she killed herself
Tomorrow will be a hard day

OP I am going to the GP later with EXACTLY the same symptoms, I'm not exaggerating. You could be me.

I have a 4yo and a 14mo.

I have health anxiety and am petrified of tests, particularly the period afterwards with the waiting.

I am coping very badly with all of it.

You are not alone.

Embarrassednorth · 15/08/2019 11:45

@jamoncrumpet
Oh god please please let me know how you get on!! I hope everything goes well for you Flowers

Honestly OP, search out my posts and you will see one I wrote about a week ago saying the exact same things.

humblesims · 15/08/2019 12:08

OP I'm sorry about your Mum that must have been awful for you. Flowers but you are doing the right thing. Try to be brave. You know its the right thing to do and just take things one step at a time and try not to over think. Tell your GP how nervous you are too. Good luck and keep us updated. We're here to hold your hand.

FadedRed · 15/08/2019 15:12

Well done for making the appointment, EmbarrassedNorth. The first step is always the hardest. Explain to the Dr why and how you feel. I hope you get sorted quickly and feel better soon Flowers
