To wonder why bullfighting still happens

I find it so upsetting and from what I read it’s back in Majorca now. Before anyone says this, I am not singling out Spain- I know cruelty happens probably in every country, including the uk. I just find bullfighting particularly upsetting. Such a beautiful creature being stabbed to death in front of cheering crowds. I don’t travel to any countries where this happens and have signed petitions which can be found eg on Twitter
I seriously don’t understand why people would go and watch this. It’s so upsetting. Don’t understand the bull run either where beautiful creatures are tormented then killed.

I don't either. I live in Spain but not the south, the culture here is quite different from the typical stereotype, and people here don't get it either.

To be honest I don’t think it’s changing so much as it was news the other day that Majorca are now bringing back bullfighting after a previous ban!

Was it not also news that there were hundreds of people protesting outside the plaza de toros of Palma de Mallorca?

Opinions on bullfighting have changed very rapidly in Spain. The younger generation are increasingly anti-bullfighting, even in the south (in much of the north it's never been a huge tradition). There is no bullfighting in Catalunya or Canarias, and it's been almost wiped out in Galicia. It's likely to disappear altogether in the next decade or so...

From what I am seeing online, there is still a lot of bullfighting happening. As I said, I’ve signed all the petitions I can find on it and don’t travel to countries where it takes place.
I really hope you are right that things are changing.
