Commuting from Marlow to central London?

Does anyone have experience of this? DH and I are considering moving to Marlow but my one concern is will I be able to commute easily enough to collect DC from nursery etc. Would be working in Soho so would need to get to and from Oxford Circus every day. Is the commute too much? I would have to work until 5.30pm and start work at 9am.

BTW I had a temporary job in Marlow once and as I lived in London and had the possibility of staying there for the duration of the job, I did live in.

I could not have faced commuting every day for six weeks, never mind forever.

I commuted 3 days a week but that was pre-kids.
There’s a Waitrose at Handy Cross now.

My in laws live in Marlow - MIL commutes into London every day but drives to Wycombe as is much, much quicker than going from Marlow. Not sure about logistics of driving into Maidenhead and commuting but I certainly wouldn't live in Maidenhead. I work here...and it's grim.

I know a couple that live there that work in courts in London often so I think it is technically possible, as others have said though you would be at the mercy of nursery opening hours. Would there be any scope for one of you going in earlier and leaving earlier to do make pick ups around 6.30 more practical? It's a lovely area so well worth doing if you can make it work!

The trains from H Wycombe go to Marylebone and then the Bakerloo will take you to Oxford Circus direct.
I think this route is pricier than Maidenhead to Paddington, although that way will have the advantage once Cross-rail gets going.
The station parking at HW is tight, and expensive, there is a Park and Ride from Handy Cross [where the lovely Waitrose is]
I live in Marlow and love it, but no way would I want to commute. Nor would I want to live in Maidenhead.

My experience of Marlow is that it’s not an easy commute, there are some direct trains to Paddington but not all trains are direct and then from Paddington it’s a tube change. You are probably looking at 1.5/2 hours for delays ect. That’s too much for me but marlow is lovely you have to weigh up the pros and cons

I commuted in from Marlow several years ago. Google tells me average journey time Marlow to Paddington is 1 hr 18 mins. Be aware that, occasionally, when the river is flooding, you sometimes can't get all the way to Marlow on the branch line (Marlow Donkey as someone upthread has said). I can remember having to get off at Bourne End and make my way by other means (might have got a lift from my parent) to Marlow in these circumstances. Also occasionally, a delay/problem on the branch line means you miss the connection to London at Maidenhead.

Can your husband do the nursery runs?

Can you do one each of drop off or pick up, and both adjust your hours slightly?

Why is it only you having to figure this out?
