To expect a loan to be actually paid back?

Last October I lent a friend in need an amount of money as she was in dire straits at the time and had no money to pay her rent. At the time I didn't need the money back in a rush and so told her just to pay back what she could afford each month which she did for a few months and then stopped. ( last payment back in February).

I hate talking about money but built up the courage to text her and ask. She replied she had completely forgotten about it and would make a payment when she next got paid on 12th. Of course nothing was forthcoming so I sent another text expressing my surprise she had " forgotten" about the loan and that nothing had appeared in my bank account.

She has since replied that she hasn't been well, my asking her for money hasn't helped , that she will transfer some money ( which she has) and not to contact her again.

My flabber is gasted. She has completely turned things around as if I have a cheek asking her for my own money when I did her a massive favour. It's certainly true that you shouldn't lend money unless you can afford not to have it repaid and that's obviously the end of our friendship.

I lent money and never got the full amount repaid. This person has stopped speaking to me
Lesson learned - don't ever lend money again especially not to those who have failed to repay.

Send her an email and inform her you will be taking her to court. Save any and all documentation, texts, emails, etc.
