AIBU to be pissed off about the weather

We want to do a family activity that is quite expensive. It's cheaper in the week and dh doesn't work Fridays. Each Friday we try to do it it rains. This week Friday is the only day its raining. I've converted tesco vouchers to do this activity. We're all looking firward to it.
AIBU that it's raining in August. Am not just little showers but all day rain
(light hearted but still very annoying)

Shake your fist at the sky a few times to let the clouds know you're seriously mad.

Bluntness100 · 13/08/2019 10:50

Agree, it's pissing me off too, this morning it felt like autumn.

MissCharleyP · 13/08/2019 10:54

It’s been like that here since July (apart from a couple of days)! It is very depressing, every weekend I’ve had off it’s been raining so we’ve been stuck in unable to do anything nice.

GruciusMalfoy · 13/08/2019 10:57

I don't know what the weather's up to this summer, it's been a washout. When I let the dog out last thing last night I could see my breath, it feels like autumn.

akmum18 · 13/08/2019 10:57

Agree, it’s rained non stop here for a week so we haven’t been able to do anything summery. Fingers crossed the weather changes and you get to enjoy your Friday with some sun.

youarenotkiddingme · 13/08/2019 10:58

Agree. I actually woke up the other day and joked to ds we'd been asleep for 8 weeks and woken up in autumn!

adaline · 13/08/2019 10:58

August has always been pretty temperamental weather-wise I think.

September is better for consistently nice days.

youarenotkiddingme · 13/08/2019 10:58

I'm lucky though I go away next week so will likely have some sunshine.

timeforawine · 13/08/2019 10:59

I'm pissed off with it too OP, feels really autumnal in the morning, as much as i love autumn i'm not ready for it yet!
Also broke my little toe so living in flip flops and my feet are freezing!

Lifecraft · 13/08/2019 11:01

August is always the wettest month of the year, as well as being the warmest.

Namechangedtoprotect · 13/08/2019 11:02

Thanks all, I thought maybe I was being a bit precious.
We've got a week in the UK at the end of August. Booked as we went away the same time last year and it was really warm. Planning on taking thick jumpers and coats this year!

July and August are always wet! June and September are the nice months.

MoreFrog · 13/08/2019 11:19

I've just come back from a holiday where it was 38c every day consistently. It was brutal. So I'm loving this cool drizzle.

PhantomErik · 13/08/2019 11:25

DH has this week off work & we were hoping to have beach days, take kayak out, go for lovely walks/picnics etc (all free things) & the weather's rubbish so we're sorting stuff in the house (moving bedrooms around) & the kids are watching dvd's, playing in their rooms & arguing - not the plan at all!!!

MaMaMaMySharona · 13/08/2019 11:25

Completely agree. I've never known an August to be this wet, it's rained almost every single day where I live.

I'm getting fed up of not being able to sit in my garden! Last week I had to get all my jumpers out of winter storage because it was so cold.

This absolutely isn't a normal August.

familycourtq · 13/08/2019 11:26

YABVU assuming you are in UK or Ireland

Laiste · 13/08/2019 11:29

YANBU OP it's bloody miserable all the wet and mud. Loved the heat wave last year!

We're away in the UK last week in August as well. Fingers crossed for us all :)

SallyWD · 13/08/2019 11:30

August is ALWAYS very disappointing. Apparently it's one of the wettest months of the year (always not just this year). I notice we always get the better weather in May/June/sometimes July and then August is a letdown. September is usually better....

Jamieson90 · 13/08/2019 11:37

It's the same in Manchester. I know we get a lot of rain anyway, but lately it feels like it's been raining forever. I can't remember the last clear day we had!

OtraCosaMariposa · 13/08/2019 12:04

August is always the wettest month of the year

That's just not true. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Climate_of_the_United_Kingdom

Wetter on average than May, June and July, but not the wettest.
