It's about the danger of wearing a lanyard while driving should airbag deploy
I see many HCP's and others with lanyards with keys etc attached and it is an easily avoidable significant risk that rally surprised me
So in short, remove lanyards before driving

I dont wear a lanyard, but wear my ID on a extending clip on my top which I guess could be just as dangerous!! Will remove now! Thanks for the warning.

Rapidmama · 11/08/2019 23:22

Gawd I’ve got a ton of shit hanging on mine!

At least my bottle of antiseptic liquid would sterilise the wound.

Horehound · 11/08/2019 23:24

Yes it's been used in multiple safety moments at my work.
I hate them anyway, don't wanna feel like a dog

timeisnotaline · 11/08/2019 23:25

Good to know!

abitoflight · 11/08/2019 23:27

It is simply such a small thing that can have such unforeseen consequences

This was shared by email at my work a short while ago, and was a real eye opener to me and my colleagues. As teachers, we all must wear lanyards at all times to prove our identity within the building. Plus, we nearly all carry our classroom keys on them for the sake of ease. Add to that a plethora of badges and trinkets from children, and they make for a fairly compact and sharp weapon.

Thank you for the reminder to remove your lanyard before you drive!

(The cynical side of me says, “As a very short female driver, my air bag will probably kill me anyway Hmm without the extra help, but I will try to keep remembering to remove the lanyard first!”)

Ah shit. That’s a good point . I’m a short female driver.
