To think that this changing table is ridiculous?

Was at a garden centre cafe this afternoon with DS. Needed to change his nappy so popped to the loo. The cafe was recently built and has lovely new facilities. However the changing table was for ‘Up to 12 months/11kg’! Is that not madness? DS is 11 months and not far off 11kg so he’ll be over the weight limit soon! Surely as most toddlers are in nappies until at least 2, this is very poor? It’s a very short changing table too, DS’ legs were hanging off the end! I just don’t really get why they make them in this size/weight limit.

YANBU. Ridiculous. How do they propose you change a 15 month old safely... maybe ask them!

Most changing tables are the same weight limit and size in my experience.

My DC were both huge babies and always too big for the changing tables by six months old. I just used to change them on the floor with my own change mat. Or when they were toddlers, I did stand up changes.

never paid attention to weight limit.

Most, if not all, changing tables in toilets have that weight restriction. My DS (10mo) is 10.4kg at last weigh-in, there's no way I'm going to stop using them. I actually find them more useful now than when he was little because the strap stops him from rolling. I don't really fancy changing him on a toilet floor either, I definitely wouldn't want to sit down on it myself.

Tesco/boots are usually a good shout, their baby changing rooms have mats that are mounted on a unit rather than the wall.
