I feel so stupid about this but can't seem to grasp the basics of something I need to know. Please help!
Following elective surgery 4 months ago that went catastrophically wrong I couldn't leave hospital until carers 4x a day was in place. I was in hospital for ages because of this; initially I went in as a day surgery patient. Help is provided free of charge to the service user for the 1st 4 weeks then it transfers to other services to provide care. I am now starting week two so arrangements are being made for continued care.
I know all councils are different. Mine help pay for ongoing carers and this is dependent in income and savings, which I understand and agree with despite struggling already (because I have lost my ability to continue working)
My council provide care at a reduced rate or free of charge to the client as soon as the client dips under the minimum income guarantee. I think I have a premium added to that, think it is disabled persons income guarantee.
How do I work out if I am under, on or over the minimum income guarantee with regard to needing to pay for my carers? I am absolutely fine with paying and going without stuff, I just need to understand.
Am I unreasonable for begging for help from strangers because I am too proud to ask my family to work it out? (they all live abroad and I don't want them worrying about mee)
Thank you all
