DS is constantly caked in the stuff of SPF 50 and yet he is always burnt as soon as the sun is shining. Now DD1 and DD2 were both exposed for the same amount of time yesterday with the same suncream and neither of them are even slightly tinged. Now Ds had three times as much cream is burnt.
Ok so he has red hair but DD1 is blonde!!!

Yes, that's the one, Nemo!

Someone on here recommended it, because DD1 just burns with everything else no matter how many times you put it on her.

We give her some to put on herself because you have to rub that UltraSun in pretty well.

But when she goes to nursery they're not allowed to put any on her, so we needed something that lasted.

I use the sensitive skin one, too, because DD1 is allergic to a lot of stuff.

i have found that the stuff boots does that you have to apply only once (more often if child is in water) works GREAT.
but you have to apply plenty and apply at least 15-20 minutes before sun exposure.
we used this on ds on saturday while at the seaside and he got no sunburn or tan!

i also saw some TV advert for one of the sun protections creams about how some sun creams break down in the sun. (but i dont remember which one is was advertising for.)

another suggestion might be one of those UV suits for kids to wear.

barring all that, maybe ask for GP for advice?

i hope he is okay with the sunburn...

If it is a thick cream could he be sweating it off? I am a red head with very pale skin and burn in minutes but since most of the sunblocks are either really thick and cakey to wear or give me a glorious rash I just try and avoid the sun. I was worse as a child and used to get very sick It may be worth investing in clothes made of sunblock fabric and keeping him indoors during the hottest part of the day. You can also get uv proof play tents so if he really wants to be outside he will get some protection.

I didn't like the Boots Once stuff as much as Ultrasun. I burnt the day I wre its Facotr30, yet I had been fine with the Ultrasun Facotr 30, with more sun exposure. It as alsmost as if the Boots stuff had "swaeted" off.

Nemo, that sounds all too familiar to me. I'm 35 and fair, I have to put suncream of factor 50+ on every half hour or i burn straight away. I tend to just cover up, it's easier.
