I've spent anything from £80 to £250. Don't regret it. Party always costs more than child's present.

£400-£500

£130 or so up until they're about 5. There's a local sports centre that does a bouncy castle and soft play party for 20 for £100 (includes tea and coffee for grown ups), then cake and buffet.

The older kids' parties have been around £250 since they started school. This is for either a private hire soft play with food knckuded (30 kids) or an activity like Clip n Climb for 12 or so friends. The best party I did was Halloween themed in a hall with an animal man, but it cost about £250 and was a lot more work. I figure the age theu want parties doesn't last long so let them have pretty much what they want.

We tend to onlyspend £50ish on a gift though.

Hire of a community centre with bouncy castle included is £100
Food £50
Tat (party bags, balloons, sweeties, pinata) another £30
My Dad is a kids entertainer so I've been very lucky to get his services for free a couple of years.
He couldn't make it this year so I organised old fashioned games: Duck duck goose, kippers, flour pie, the chocolate game. Then let them smash up a pinata.
Happy days.
I do whole class parties because I love a big celebration Grin

Paid about £190 plus cake and party bags for a climbing party for 10 kids Iast year - but I don't do them every year for each child and they know if they have a party they get less spent on them instead of a present.

Last party was £200 for 12 for two games of laser tag, pizza after, party bags and cake.

Last year (4) we did a soft play party which was about £200 including food, then home made cake and party bags was probably another £25. But we also did a family party at home which cost quite a lot in nice food and drinks.

My son and his best friends birthdays are all within a few days of each other so they had a joint trampoline party it was about £100 each plus cake party bags and invites. I wouldn't spend over £100. I fact before the joint party was suggested I was just going to do a dvd and party games. It's easier with summer born kids as a lot of the kids in his class born then have parties in parks with party games and a picnic. They cost next to nothing and the kids love it.
