TMI - AIBU to think we should see the doctor

Myself, DH and DS (6) have all had diarrhoea for the past 5 days. It started at, pretty much, the same time and has continued. It's hasn't been awful, but we have all had cramps, have to go after eating, urgent need etc. TMI but all of us have had yellow, vinegar smelling poo. We have been able to eat and keep hydrated so not too concerned about that.
Non of us have eaten the same thing so don't think it's food related.
I'm just wondering whether it is just a normal tummy bug or whether it's worth seeing the doctor about possible bacteria or parasite. It's getting us all down as we can't really do anything. It seems to be going on a bit too long for a bug, as my husband usually gets past these very quickly.
Any advice would be appreciated. Don't really want to take any anti diarrhoea meds as I know these things need to run their course.
I'm NOT a poo troll!

Have you been out off the uk? I had giardia and it was like that. Tbf I got it in Glasgow though!

TheoriginalLEM · 10/08/2019 20:10

It sounds like an infection - I'd see a dr if not gone by Monday

Haggisfish · 10/08/2019 20:12

Definitely go. Stool sample easily identify it.

dollydaydream114 · 10/08/2019 20:13

That does sound like something more than a normal tummy bug.

The only time I've ever had anything like that for more than about 48 hours was when I had campylobacter food poisoning, which can take a few weeks to get rid of. I would try and see the doctor or go to a walk-in centre, especially as your son is still young.

MereDintofPandiculation · 10/08/2019 20:14

Isn't a "normal tummy bug" bacterial?

alwaysscared · 10/08/2019 20:19

We haven't been out of the uk but we have been on holiday, came home Sunday.
I think if it's still going on tomorrow we will go, just to get checked. Thanks all.

@MereDintofPandiculation I meant more like ecoli, salmonella, something like that

Ring the GP first for advice. Please.
Don’t just go.
A telephone consultation would be safer.
If you go and it’s infectious or something easily transferred and you are in a waiting room with someone who is immunocompromised or early pregnancy then it could be disastrous or even life threatening.

Please please get over the phone advice about if you should go in or not.

Missingstreetlife · 10/08/2019 20:28

Fluids only for a day, then bland food only may help. Phone gp when home

alwaysscared · 10/08/2019 20:34

I would tell them at the docs and ask to wait in a separate room. I think they would want to see DS as he is little. I'll ring on Monday for advice

Surely if you've already walked into the waiting room you've already exposed some people? My doctors is always packed by the reception.

I'd mention it over the phone and see what they want to d. If they want to bring you in then they can sort a room out then

alwaysscared · 10/08/2019 21:24

Yes I will definitely ring before we go in.

And I didn't think these things were airborne?! I thought it was fecal oral! And we are very hygienic people. I would never put others at risk

OP posts:
YeOldeTrout · 11/08/2019 11:51

It won't be airborne. You may fear shitting yourself in the waiting room but just sharing an air supply won't pass it to anyone.

Does sound like something that would be notifiable (public health would want to know).

monkeysox · 11/08/2019 11:59

Campylobacter
I'd bet
