New Year's Eve idea?

I guess my AIBU is that I can't find/decide anything and am looking for help!!

14 people in the family. My dad is 70 on NYE. family are mostly adults, three generations (my parents, us "kids" (late 30s/early 40s), our kids (age 22-3) and my newborn grandchild).
So the family want to go away for NYE and perhaps the next night... I'm struggling to find accommodation for all of us, I've been looking for a cottage. We live in East Anglia and happy to drive a few hours to stay somewhere fabulous. Price not really an issue but from what I've seen we're looking at triple for NYE (predictably).

Anyone done anything different or got any great ideas?

I have found Airbnb good for large groups (hen dos etc) - assume you’ve checked there?

cccameron · 10/08/2019 18:02

There's a lot of cottages in the Lake District that cater for that group size. I think you have left it very late though so you may struggle. Lets for NYE are usually booked up v quickly at the beginning of the year.

Would you consider going abroad. There are often great deals for that time of year if you are prepared to fly out on Boxing day?

Subeccoo · 10/08/2019 18:05

Yeah Airbnb - found a perfect one near London which is amazing but the bed situation just doesn't work! Lake District is way too far.. you're right, probs have left it late for accommodation, still looking for ideas for something to do though!

try here. it would be £797 total if you arrived on the 31st december and left 2nd January, including cleaning. its located near york city centre so plenty to do, and around a 2hr 30 minute car drive from Cambridge (not too sure where in east Anglia you are) x

Subeccoo · 10/08/2019 18:22

Sleepismysuperpower that looks lovely and distance is ok but we need 4x doubles (3x couples then my sister needs one with her 3yo who has complicated additional needs, one being that she requires to sleep with her)... we managed this for a holiday in May, it was tricky though!
2 cottages would work though I guess...

could you have a look at something like this maybe? the bnb option?

Subeccoo · 10/08/2019 18:47

That looks amazing. Just the kind of thing we'd like - I'm off out but will look properly later, thanks!

There must be a lot of cottages / houses for rent that can accommodate that many. Keep looking!
