AIBU to hope we have to cancel our holiday?

My daughter broke her arm and it’s currently in a cast. We’re due to go abroad on holiday at the end of the summer holidays and were planning on mainly swimming while there. We had originally thought the cast would be off but now the doctor doesn’t think that’s likely. There is talk of them saying she is not fit to fly and then we can claim on our insurance and book a holiday later on when she will be able to enjoy it. Obviously the best case really is still that the cast is off and we can go and swim and enjoy the holiday, (though she would still have to take it a bit easy and wouldn’t necessarily be able to go on the water slides etc) but AIBU to hope that if they can’t remove the cast then we can claim on our insurance and cancel the holiday?
Disclaimer - I obviously don’t want there to be a problem with her arm, just that I don’t want to go on a swimming holiday when she can’t swim!

Can you get a cast cover so she can still swim if needed? Or ask for a waterproof cast to be put on.
Hope it gets taken off in time!

We will get a cast cover if needed. Not sure how effective they are? But her cast goes over her elbow so she’d be able to get in the pool but not swim!

I'd say it depends if you have other children and if there is option to cancel or reschedule for October half term.

I had this a few years ago. Didn't cancel other children would be impacted. Child wasn't in pain so it was fine.

We have one other child and we would make sure we would book something else so it would be a postponement rather than a cancellation. We’ve mentioned the possibility and they both understand. cheeserolls did you get a cast cover. Was it effective?

Ds1 broke his arm and had an above elbow case when he was 6. We had booked a Haven holiday with 2 swimming pools on the shore for 2 weeks after that!
We got a swim cover and it was brilliant, went up to his armpit and didn't leak. We went swimming every day and he seemed to do fine splashing around, even though he couldn't do proper swimming.

I hope you can get it rebooked as I'm sure she'd prefer not to have it on, but even if you do have to go I hope she still has fun - maybe a big pool float, noodles and so on might make it easier?

@NoTeaForMe

We didn't have a cover as dc was still young enough to not be that bothered/ notice!. We did consider it but swimming wasn't a big bit of the holiday either so decided to not spend the money.

I'm glad @Coffeethrowtrampbitch has had a good experience to share on the covers. Good to know for the future.

Hope it heals fast and isn't too painful
