Could anyone help me understand what is included in the calculations ? Eg, gross wages, bonuses, tax free payments, company car, company health insurance, company healthcare, petrol allowance and company pension.

So,say basic was £35k but all the above benefits pushed up his annual earnings to £40k which salary do they use, what is or is not included? Help?

Look on the CMS website.

Fairly sure they don't include benefits in kind like health insurance or healthcare but pension contributions are included.

They use the taxable income amount provided by HMRC usually the most recent tax year but can use info from as much as 6 years ago.

I have looked on there and spoken to CM Options.
One says they do, one says the dont....thus the confusion!
So HMRC will have one figure and he will be declaring another to CSA.
How do I know which is right? So confused?

What counts as earnings?
Earnings include money from:

salaries and wages
self-employed earnings
bonuses, commission, overtime payments, tips, royalties or fees
holiday pay, except for holiday pay paid more than four weeks after you stopped work
Statutory Sick Pay
Statutory Maternity Pay
Statutory Paternity Pay
Statutory Adoption Pay
overseas earnings if these are taxable in the United Kingdom.

What doesn’t count as earnings?
Gross earnings don’t include:
expenses you have to pay for as part of your work, such as petrol you buy when you use a company car for work
a tax-exempt allowance an employer makes to an employee
payments in kind
an advance of earnings or loan from your employer
redundancy pay, but only in some cases. If you’ve received a redundancy payment, get expert advice about whether this will count as earnings
Working Tax Credit and Child Tax Credit.

Have you looked at the online calculator? It states that it doesn’t include pension
